Post spring unit Depth Charts

Thanks for the input , and the attitude. Sorry if I don’t have granular fidelity on a 20 man db unit. I didn’t chart every play by the secondary. There is guess work and inferences based on incomplete information.

As for the OL it takes into account the fact that three projected starters were out, which means that some guys that were on the second unit are going to get bumped down.

Same with vets elsewhere that were out with injury.

I appreciate the work.

You definitely started some good conversation during a quiet time.

I thought the DT walkon from Saranac Lake (Alberga) looked good.
I bet his nickname is Algebra.
He certainly burst onto the scene with that TFL.

That’s the five best.

It's your SWC two running backs in the backfield.

I hope they can make it work out with one of the guards out at tackle and Vett at center. I recall him playing pretty well at center the last 3 games of 2019.

Ellis might have eaten his way out of a job. Bleich is a big question mark. Cruz might be the next tackle. My hope is that Dino goes with his five best, which is what he mentioned at some point. That’s a lot of teams approach.

I really hope Cruz is ready to go. Might be a year away still.

I guess the food here is as good as it is in Hawaii.

Even if mobility isn't the issue with Ellis at that weight, he's much, much more susceptible to injury at that weight. Human bodies weren't made to carry all that. I hope they put him on a diet/fitness plan and start shedding that bad weight asap.

From what money has said and others it seems like the staff almost certainly wants more DL transfers and are going after Goode now but also waiting to see who's coming into the portal after spring ball shakes out across FBS.

At least my attempt at one. Just going to throw these out there for now. There will almost certainly be portal add/deletes between now and august.

First, thanks for doing this!

Is Josh Hough going to be tried out at DE or DT? Because if lateral movement was the issue with his knee injury, we could use that size in the middle.

We have quicker ends, unless he's used on the strong side opposite a tight end.

I remember hearing names called for all of the first 9 on the DL from the spring game. Collectively, they did a pretty good job.

The backs broke 2 or 3 long runs, but there was pressure at times, and there was some hard hitting at times. I didn't feel like the DL got clearly outplayed in that game. Good sign.

I don't think the depth was as good at LB as it was for other groups. Mason had a big play that I recall, and I remember McDonald and Sparrow getting a few tackles, but no big hits or big plays.

TEs were mostly invisible (but good at blocking). Of the WRs, pretty much everybody on the two-deep had a couple moments, and even a couple of the third and fourth groups (Jones, Hayes and Pena) had moments. I think they are going to find enough guys who can contribute this year.

For me, Lamson was way ahead of the others. I thought McPhail was kind of a "Rudy" player out there at first, but he did make a couple good throws. Villari, big strong guy but was forcing things to make an impression. Morgan was nothing special to me.

The new running backs, Price and Allen, both looked great. Legit options off the bench.

Deuce got burned a couple times on double moves. I think they wound up unintentionally showing that to our opponents this year. It seemed like they never threw at Garrett Williams that I remember. Braylin Oliver made a couple plays, and so did Carter. I don't remember Neil Nunn's name being called. Was he hurt? I don't recall Coley making a lot of plays, either, come to think of it.

A lot of players got good run from the offensive line. Linemen are like umpires. If you don't hear their names a lot, they're probably having pretty good games. I saw a lot of names on 3 deep who got game time.
