Postgame Thoughts… Villanova

Well, the start was electric. Can’t beat these games with old rivals in the garden. Really thought this was going to be a classic high scoring affair after the first few buckets. Didn’t happen.

- Our chance to build a lead was missed first half when the score was 20-16 for awhile. Nova missed a billion threes and we didn’t capitalize. That was a red flag but they didn’t continue the awful shooting like FSU did.

- Buddy won’t miss those type of looks, more times than not. Just didn’t have it. Happens. Had chances.

- Edwards really draws some fouls, but like Bilas said a bunch, needs a bit more strength strength strength.

- Defensive rebounding is pretty self explanatory. Yikes.

- Only 53 points will rarely do it. Winning those type of games are in the past..

- Not much bench tonight. Not much Cole either… need him to score when he gets the chances.

At the end of the day, Villanova is a top ranked squad. Would have been a great win, but they made plays to win and we didn’t.

Close 4th place… Jesse acting scared to get some rebounds because of fouls going against him. Coach musta gotten on to him pretty bad. And nova missed plenty of 3’s but hit plenty of 3’s. And nova is old lol

We are light years away from beating teams like this…Boeheim bet on his kids to leads this team but Buddy hasn’t been himself for several games if he can’t ride to the occasion we aren’t very good. Cole also needs to find openings

Villanova got 22 more shot off than us. Impressive stuff. Buddy and Cole combining for 11 isn’t getting it done. Joe with three just awful turnovers.

I’ll concede the rebounding to a point if those other numbers were better..

Jimmy was great today but we are getting destroyed in the boards

the only way they both work together is if they are BOTH scoring. otherwise, it’s just not gonna work. They are going to continue t o get killed on the boards

There is a ceiling we won’t be able to bust through when it comes to rebounding (at least consistently), but we’ve got to dig deep win and find ways to get some more of these tough boards especially when we get a first hand on it.

• Enjoyed the first 30 minutes.
• I had a bad feeling at Halftime when Villanova couldn't possibly shoot worse and were only down 3.
• Girard is our best shooter this year, but the turnovers hurt
• Nothing hurt more than the amount of offensive rebounds we gave up. How many times did the announcers say "great rebound by so and so on Nova". Not once for us, with good reason.
• 50-50 balls seemed to be 5-95 balls for us
• Jimmy B. with the game of his life, while his little brother struggled
• Huge Edwards fan, but he needs to be stronger with the ball. Had the ball knocked out of his hands several times
• Swider was solid on the boards. He's a good complementary player. Not more, not less.

Awful defensive rebounding leads to scrambling around needing to play defense way too much leads to tired legs down the stretch.

Buddy and Cole were both bad tonight.
We miss a player like Q. Need some more inside muscle. Joe played great the first half fell apart at the 10 minute mark second half.
Basically 2 starters played really Badly.
Jimmy Joe and Jesse won the first half.
If Buddy and or Cole do anything its a different game.
We should beat Gtown.
Going forward this is how its going to be. Cant win if both Cole and Buddy are off. Its really that simple.

Buddy has had down stretches before; he’ll come back. Swisher will play over Benny until Benny shows he can do something competently; right now his game seems purposeless.

i enjoyed the first 4 minutes of that game. that was it. after that our offense was terrible, only reason we had the lead is nova missed about 20 open 3’s. 2nd half was flat out embarassing. we didnt belong on the same court as them. and theyre not even that good, if thats the 6th best team in the country the country sucks.
