Postgame Thoughts... Clemson

I can’t see why Marek would be back either. But who knows.

Hate to say it because I like Marek's game but if he leaves there might be a silver lining as JB would have to focus on developing our centers. We've been playing 'stretch 4's for years - McCullough, Lydon, now Marek, (who is actually a "stretch 3").

Unless Jim sees Bennie Williams as our new Stretch 4.

I think JB deep down really wants to get to 1,000 recognized wins (needs 26 wins now) and to coach Buddy next year. I think if Syracuse schedules a really soft non conference schedule next year JB could get to 1,000 if everyone came back. Buddy will say he doesn’t need his extra year & JB will step aside with 1,000 wins and JB & Buddy will leave at the same time.

At least that’s the best case scenario I can hope for & probably JW’s dream as well. Unfortunately dream endings don’t often happen.

I agree, but yes it sucks to say that because Marek is a great college bball player and someone any team would love to have on their roster. He should be a fan favorite and not a guy folks are dogging bc he can't rebound over someone twice his size.

The ACC has nothing to do with our recruiting.
Justin Champagnie said he was a huge Syracuse fan and is from Brooklyn. We didn’t offer him a scholarship.

Monte Morris wanted to come to SU and paid his own way to come to our elite camp and we didn’t offer him a scholarship.

Jalen Brunson was told on an unofficial visit to SU he wasn’t a fit and not offered a scholarship.

The ACC has done nothing to our recruiting. It’s been our own fault.

You believe he will need several months after missing 8 wks with an injury before he can play more than 20 mins in a game? Meaning you don't think he should play more than 20 mins in a game or he physically will not be able to play more than 20 mins in a game due to stamina?
You must be new here. Welcome.

100%

I just can’t fathom what JB is seeing w/ this strategy that everyone else isn’t. The fact that he believes Buddy and JG3 not only give him the best chance to win big in our league, and that they’re seemingly indispensable, simply boggles the mind.
Sure. it's that, and then also the similarly unfathomable, mind-boggling 'strategy' he employs when he does put Kadary in for one of the two ineffective starting guards. Instead of letting our one true point guard do true point guard stuff, he takes the ball out of the playmaker's hands, and has him standing around on the perimeter, while Slow Joe or Fuddy Duddy Buddy initiate the offense.

The JB cratering has been going on for a long time. But, this year seems particularly awful for him. The longer we ride with him—because we are so indebted to him—the further we are going to have to climb out of the hole he is creating. When it became a matter of managing his ego, we were lost.

Final four isn’t even that recent. When Deshaun and Shumpert were allegedly feuding and we went to the NIT, people weren’t saying, “hey it’s ok, we JUST went to the final four a half decade ago!”
The FF argument was always inane. As if a clutch tournament run actually represented the quality of the team. Not.

I keep seeing we battled in the second half or it was even. WE WERE DOWN 20 and never once threatened that lead. It’s easy to take the foot off the pedal down 20. It’s easy to score down 20. And never once did we put a stretch together in that second half that even made it look remotely close. The whole second half was cruise control for Clemson.
The whole second half was garbage time. You see it all the time. Bad teams get blown out in first half and are down huge but manage to make it look OK in the second half by playing it even. The team up big is content to trade baskets and cruise to victory. The BC-NC State game today was the same way. BC was down 20 at the half but managed to make the score at least look better at the end.

We used to be the team that would get up 20 and cruise and people on here would lament that we would never keep our foot on the gas and beat teams by 40 like a Duke would.

True story.

In his presser, JB said Clemson has good shooters. Just checked- before today they were 41% overall, good for 292 out of 347 teams and 31% 3pt%, good for 281st. Interesting definition of good shooters.
I heard that and thought exactly the same thing you wrote here.

How i long for the days when we would have a ten point lead with five minutes left, and we fans would lament and whine about the 'slow-down' that allowed the opponent to almost come back and win.

I bet there are more examples to add to that list
