Potential 2025-26 Roster

Cuffe - last 8 games - 15 for 34 from the field, 5 for 15 from 3, 7-10 FTs, 6 reb, 4 assists, 3 steals. He's an effort guy who plays defense and is not really a shooting guard, he's more of a combo.

He's not a PG in the halfcourt, but he can run the break. Cuffe is not a star, but he is a very useful rotation piece. I hope if he's back next year, Red has more trust in him, and uses him more predictably and consistently.
I think Cuffe is a solid bench guy, just needs to watch his shot selection and getting stuck in the air with nowhere to go against better defenses.

LOL...Slapshot
Yeah gotta love spellcheck , effin phone. And of course I can't edit it for some reason. Lol.

He showed real guts taking on his abusive dad. That showed team leadership potential

Paved the way for others to do the same... Like that kid from Angel Beach Highschool too.

I don’t think his market will be what some think it is.
I think it's the opposite, I think he'll have to make the decision if Duke or Alabama calls and says we'll give you 2X what we will but you may only be seeing 15 mins a game off the bench.

We're dealing with an NIL market where a dozen teams are willing to pay just in case they may someday need a something in a game from a guy like JJ just to score a few points and nothing else.

Important that we don't get emotional and play that game. Freeman has upside that we may not have seen and needs to be the top priority, JJ it's hard to see him making giant jump anymore even with a better supporting cast.

Alabama and Duke are not taking a 2 guard that can’t shoot 3’s or play defense. He wouldn’t have even been in their rotation this year. His options may be some mediocre BE school like Butler.

Girard was way better than Starling and didn’t get a sniff from those schools. Maybe he could go to Clemson since they lose everyone, but he would be a downgrade of what they have had the past couple of seasons.

. If Moore were coming back I think Red would have given him a little run this week.
He was dressed but visibly limping in the layup line … and I am not sure he brought his D to the game

For 15 mins a game you'd be surprised what those teams will pay for. He would be deep on their bench.

Girard was playing 36 mins a game at Clemson not 15. Also pretty sure Girard held a Duke scholarship just knew he wouldn't be playing much.

I really don't think you're grasping that these top payrolls are taking our best players and putting them at the far end of the bench for double/triple the money. It's because they know they can't do everything you listed, but they do know they can do one thing they need for 15 mins a game.

Girard had a scholarship after HS. Big difference.

Starling would not be in either schools rotation. They play 3 and d players off the bench. Things he cannot do. Alabama plays a 7 man rotation and Duke has HS all Americans on the bench that can’t get time.

Either way I don’t want to hear about NIL this offseason. We are far better off this year than you and others state despite the gaslighting.

I don’t see how choppa can be upset at the opportunities he has had he worked his way into the starting lineup and is a horrible defender

We need to spend a fortune this offseason. Empty the coffers. I'm talking deficit spending. Take out loans spending.

Red needs to turn over every rock to find every last nickel.

We need a proven, elite point guard. Pay him whatever it takes.

We need a rim-protecting, rebound-gobbling center/power forward to play the 5.

We need a dead-eye, sharpshooting SG. Applications limited to those who currently reside in a power conference and shoot 39% or better from three.

In fact, only power conference players should be acquired. No CAA all-stars, no "diamonds in the rough" from the MAAC.

We need to pay whatever it takes to retain Freeman. No self-imposed cap on what he's "worth" like we did last year for our guys. He's worth what the market says he's worth. Pay him.

Keep Starling, Cuffe and Petar as long as they understand what their roles are likely to be. Starling = 15-20 minutes as a backup guard who needs to improve his D and take less than half the 3 pointers he did this year. Cuffe and Petar are 8th/9th men at best assuming we nail the portal.

But mostly, spend a fortune. This is it. One last offseason push to salvage Red's job.

You’re setting yourself up for disappointment. You’ve called for an elite, proven PG: a 39% from 3PT power5 SG, and an elite shot blocker/rebounder at the 5. You also want to give Freeman a raise to keep him.

We do need all those things you listed, but we won’t get them all in one offseason. At best we can keep Donnie and get one of the things you mentioned. It’s not fair to Red to expect all of that.

Red has a ton of work to do. And there is not one place on the roster that you can point to say “we’re good there”.

Lampkin is a fine player but was a mistake as our big NIL piece. We can’t make that mistake again.

Get a stud pg, rim protecting center, and a 3 and D player. That should be the goal in that order.

Well, we need to do all of that or Red’s gonna get fired. He went 7-13 in conference. Fair’s got nothing to do with it.

I won’t be disappointed. What I laid out there is just a simple matter of fact list of must haves. If they don’t do it then we’re sunk.

Even with all their faults, we need Freeman, Moore and Starling to return. We are not a hot destination and we do not have the NIL dollars to attract many portal players. We will need many bodies next season.

I doubt Moore is coming back. I don't think he's hurt, except his pride.

Starters:
PG- Stud PG transfer
SG-Moore
3rd guard- Starling
PF: Freeman
C: stud defensive center. Doesn’t need to average 10ppg. Just be a menace on defense

BENCH:
Kiyan
Fennell
Sadiq white be the 6th man
Petar back up minutes at PF and C
Get a young transfer sf/pf with potential
Get a young center transfer with potential

Womack redshirts

This is a terrific comment. Situational substitutions is valuable thing that our coach needs to be much better at next year.

One advantage we could have in attracting a high level center from the portal is showing them tape of Eddie, how we were willing to feed the ball to the center regularly and even run the offense through him. Eddie had a fantastic season scoring and rebounding. Of course the center we get out of the portal also needs to be a high level defender and rim protector (which Eddie decidedly was not), but we could show those portal recruits how we’re willing to feed the ball inside and successfully run the center in the pick and roll if they’re capable.

I could be wrong but I think we’ll see a completely different style of offense next season(portal outcome dependent of course).

Key words are "in that order" to me. Carlos has played better the last few games, but we need someone at PG to be the answer from the start next year or everything else won't work the way it needs to.
