Pretty good JB interview

Thanks for posting this. Seth Davis is still a buttclown.
I wonder if he'll be friendlier to SU after the interview. Jim Rome hated Boeheim 15yrs ago...JB goes on the show a few times and Romes whole attitude changed. Doesnt say much for their professionalism but I think its part of the business

It is easy to dislike him when (to use his own words), he's "Bad Jim Boeheim" and is snarky or downright surly. That I've seen first hand and was taken aback by it at the time.

After time passes and with reflection, reading his book, seeing interviews like this you get why he is who he is and accept easier the dynamics of the duality of his personality. His good SO far outweighs his negatives is the conclusion it's easy to come to, and furthermore like with DC1 it appears ALL who really know him love him.

In listening to that he pretty much explains he's taken his role as a coach, teacher and mentor right to the press conferences where he is tying to get those young reporters ready for a life beyond the soft confines of SU. If we believe what he says they come to appreciate it more later in life which is a good explanation I can accept as that was the one part of him that often rankles me in the past.

As for Rome and Davis as they gotten to know him more over the years to see the whole picture they too have softened to the same conclusion above. God bless ya JB, just be a little nicer the next time when someone comes up to you to congratulate and thank you for all you've done and the memories you've created for this town....

I thought Seth did a real nice job. I have a new sense of respect for him. 52 minutes long but worth it.

Seth is super solid and a bright guy. Thanks for posting. Monster interview. I don't recall such a detailed interview for that long covering so many interesting aspects of JB.
I don't remember anything that long as well. No commercials either. Seth did a nice job. Clearly read his book recently and used that to support his questions.

Maybe it was because you didn't offer him one of your airline bottles ;)

Pretty good? That was pure gold man. Best JB interview ever. Thanks for posting that.

absolutely. He shared some perspective of his parents, life as an undertaker, impressions of the Indiana game in 87 that I hadn't heard before. Worth the time for any Orange fan to take that in. "I hate losing more than I enjoy winning. Doesn't matter, a basketball game, a kids game, cards, I just hate to lose."

That line could answer a lot of questions that people toss around on here.

It's great when he's candid like that.

Yea, it was very telling. Like he is aware of it as an affliction, but with the wisdom of time, he sees both how it has made him successful, but also doesn't want that competitive trait to define him with his friends and family either. Good to see him so self confident and at ease, and gives me the impression he has several more years in him. Coming through the NCAA crap as well as he and the team have is remarkable, he seems to have honestly put it behind him.

Anyone who liked this interview would also find his recent book interesting.

Seth is a great guy. Trust me.

We tend to crucify anyone in the media who doesn't fall all over SU.

Yup. It's so childish. Maybe the only thing I dislike about certain posts. That and worrying about/over-valuing a Top 25 poll.

I was shocked when Seth Davis went into the Bernie Fine stuff and even more shocked when Boeheim answered his questions. Doesn't shock me that they don't speak but to hear it from JB is different than me assuming that.

Haven't yet listened to the interview and JB certainly deserves his place in the HOF. However, his justification (at least as it appears in print) about his alleged motivation for being a jerk to young reporters is pure applesauce.

Did JB say that the 1987 championship went to Overtime?!?!
