UConn seems to be doing fine. Nova too. Providence is ahead of us. St. John’s beat us….again. JB is afraid of UB.
UCONN is excellent this year. It took them a while to get there. Young teams lose some games we think they can win. Team is developing. Slow start and we usually lose when other teams shoot threes the way Pitt did early.

Absolutely. Had we won it would have been fun but still a game we never should have had to. What is this a deposition?
Totally not a dep. Just trying to be super positive on this young team. There is nothing I wanted more than a win as i am sure the same for you. It is hard to say but I continue to see improvement in this team. Problem is that every game it seems to be a different player or two. Mintz is key to this team but he MUST play in control. Look at the misses at the free throw line and Mintz missed slam dunk. Difference in the game! But rather than call him out for it, recognize Pitt was lucky to win. They can not get better, or luckier, than they were tonight. I can think of several more calls that benefited them we had but so what. This Orange tean is going to get better. I just hope we do not run out of runway! Peace! LGO

Just look at the size of the crowd and that tells you a lot about the program. The crowds have been pretty bad all season.

What did we have tonight, maybe 12,000?

I admire your positivity.

So that changes, what does Syracuse bring that any other school doesn’t? A dome but that’s about it. They’ll have some good years and some bad I don’t think any coach today can make Syracuse was it was in 80s-early 2010s.
Smh, come on.

Ok, nothing at all. Leading the country in attendance every year doesn’t matter. The school offers nothing. Not fun to go there whatsoever.

Commuter schools and schools in the middle of nowhere Connecticut are prime destinations though!

My point was how many times can we say "we're young and the other team had a bunch of older portal guys."?

until we’re not young anymore, I suppose

Or maybe players just don’t want to go to cuse? Like at some point i think people need to realize this isn’t the 80s and 90s anymore, you don’t need to go to the north east and mid Atlantic to play basketball. I’d be happy to be proven wrong by the next coach, but im not so sure syracuse is losing these recruiting battles because of JB. Perhaps the school just isn’t as attractive as the fans like to think.
We were bringing in top recruiting classes in the early 2010’s. When Hopkins left our recruiting left with him .

Our issue is that if we are going to start every game with a passive zone then we are going to be forced to chase the game all year against capable teams. That is not just a player issue. We need this staff to have these guys ready to play and to give them their best chance to win which means the right players on the court too. Pitt wasn't lucky to win. They were handed a ton of open looks from the zone and buried them.

It's great we saw growth but we need wins and growth and we need coaching that will get us therr

No kidding. UConn is one of the worst campuses/college "towns" anywhere. Purdue? Alabama for basketball? etc. Syracuse has everything to offer for basketball.

Whatever you say man. The recruiting is speaking for itself and we will see if it changes with the next guy.

That crowd was bumping late second half. we rarely have chances to get really fired up, but the dome still is a great place when the play warrants it.
It can be, but so can crowds at Carmen and that’s 8K people. The dome is big, and that’s great but I wouldn’t exactly say it’s a valid replacement for a real basketball stadium. Have you been to the yum center when Louisville is decent? That’s a freaking basketball stadium

We are so predictable and easy to prepare for and easy to play against.

I am 100% not a JB hater, but how can you consistently argue that the recruiting is not related to the coaching staff?
It might be, but it is also occurring at a time where you’ve seen teams like Gonzaga, Baylor, Virginia, and Alabama rising up the ranks with great classes and great seasons. You’re fighting 2x as many decent programs and then you factor in NIL for the factories. Like I said, I’d love for it to be just because of JB but there’s a lot of other things that could keep cuse from those 80s to early 10s level

I hear you and understand the issue. Every game we end up digging ourselvers out of a hole. It has to be addressed in the game planning. I agree we need to start different players. Our starters so far this year are not getting it done. Period. I agree we handed Pitt a ton of opportunities, they had a very good three point shooter we seemed to enjoy watching but they were lucky to win. Tell me that wasn't a travel on the big guy that ended up hitting two free throws. I can not explain away why Judah missed the slam dunk, or why he tried to take it. I can not explain away our missed free throws but Pitt hit 13 0f 32 threes. That is not normal.

Yep. Why does he always wait until we're behind by a lot to change things up? I would like to see the half-court traps that we did late, or a bit of press, or just picking up full court to make them use time before starting the play. He does some of that, but he often waits too long.

We are so boring. Even during the comeback nobody seems hyped up outside of Copeland. They all look like they either don’t like playing with each other or don’t like playing for JB. There isn’t much joy on the court.

Right...Why not start the game with that extended zone we ended with?

I don't agree with the first part of that. I think these guys like each other. And because all of them are getting chances to play (unexpected chances maybe, but they are getting their opportunities), the players seem engaged to me. It's just that we are starting two or three low-effort guys on defense. That's what repeatedly digs the holes.

I saw plenty of emotion.
