Class of 2023 QB Amari Odom (NC) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (1/10/26)

You got that take from that clip?! Lol. Or was there a more comprehensive clip somewhere? Clearly we don’t want you evaluating film
Ha. Ok. That was a bit of a hot take reaction. I’ve watched plenty of highlight “film” over the years. I’ve noticed sometimes my mood at the time sometimes affects my perception of what I’ve just watched. I had just been just stuck in a negative Instagram reels hole. I’m going to blame it on that. for some reason I got a Rickie Collins vibe and got a bit nervous. Knee jerk response. After dinner and a couple beverages and a rewatch, I like it much more than before. Sometimes that happens. His stats would say he has to be pretty accurate and you certainly can’t complain about his size at 6’-4”. Also saw that 64 yd pass in the air on page 1, so arm strength is certainly a plus as well. I see it now.

Beer Goggles improve one's vision! Lol

Came back from a torn ACL his senior year of high school and seems to move well in highlights. 2025 was a breakout year for him winning the QB spot at Kennesaw St in competition and leading them to the CUSA championship game. Definitely a player on the upswing.

Decent size...
Good arm,,,,
Moves in the pocket...
Can run...

And I think we may have a QB coach who can help Odom develop more.
Coach Johnson has been a receivers coach, an OC, AND a QB Coach for the past 20 years at the pro and college level.
I think we got sumpin' to look forward to... :)

I have a feeling Fran is pledging to get QB2 playing time in non-conference and blowouts. Protects Angeli, makes sure backup is ready and is a much better pitch during portal season.
No matter what a lot of people are saying, fully recovering from a complete tear of an Achilles tendon is a long process. Could be more than a year to fully recover.

Remember when Garret Shrader's doctor (surgery on his right arm) guaranteed he'd be ready for the start of the season? And he wasn't.

"He is one of only three FBS quarterbacks this season to record 350 passing yards, five passing TD's, one rushing TD and amass more than 400 yards of offense overall in a single game, joining Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia and Syracuse's Steve Angeli. - Conference USA Football"
Really good pick up. I have no inside info, but I suspect SU just paid him a lot higher than anyone else was offering. And he was first team all conference.

He was first team all conference at QB in 2025 in CUSA.

Rickie threw like half a pass before he got here and was riding on HS accolades and recruiting hype.

I like the idea of a QB that can run. I don’t want them running because they can’t throw but you cause so many issues with a defense if they always need to worry about the QB just running for a 1st down
