Class of 2019 QB David Summers (CT) SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE 2/6/19

One of the most massively underrated and under appreciated bands of all time!
PS- That might be some of the worst camerawork I’ve ever seen! I was waiting to see Larry Graham, later of Graham Central Station fame, w/ that deep baritone line, but the cameraman decided members of the audience were more important. Idiot.
Have a friend who knew him when she lived in San Francisco. A sad case. Shocking he is still alive.

Sorry about your new head coach and how much he sucks.

tough to tell if he has a gun because he made so many throws on time but really impressive touch shown.. every pass you want to see hit it a guy in stride at the right time.. great timing. when he needed to throw it 50 yds he did that too..

if he can slide in the pocket and make throws he wont need to be crazy mobile.

Sorry but Just need to state the obvious. Highlights don't show his bad throws.

Terp fan here.

It's more like Locks moved in another direction.

Personally, I think Summers is a solid prospect (and wanted to keep him) but he's more suited to Babers' scheme.
What’s Lockskey going to run? Some variation of Bama from last year?

I would agree if the line is pass protection solid. Our olines have given up 70 sacks in 2 years. TD has better wheels than people give him credit for. Look at Dino’s qb at BG and he could run well enough as well. Until Cuse gets above average protection, we will want a qb who has a quick release, go through his progressions quick and who can scramble when need be. Summer looks like he checks 2 of those boxes and his footwork in the pocket looks good.

you see a ton of QB film that is just Athletes throwing up in space and kids making catches, or throws to guys who are wide open running deep.. hitting guys in stride is not something all Qbs do even if they have great numbers. and who sees bad throws on anyones film? unless a coach sees a game he isnt really going to have bad throws to scout on any Qb he doesnt get to see in camps

What other offers did Summers have? I mean, how good can he be if Uconn wasn't hot on his trail? The last part was a joke, by the way. Serious on the offer list

And I'm sure the staff has confidence in the trainer at Clarke Sports who trained Summers and DeVito. There is a relationship there.

Quick release, accurate, and decent arm strength... checks all dino’s boxes

His release and throwing motion reminds me of Philip Rivers.

Glad they got him, sounds like this was a team approach to him. Great that Tommy gets to show him the ropes while he redshirts next year.

Dino for the win.

Quick thoughts from watching the highlights...
Anticipates throws and is accurate. Kind of a weird delivery but it's effective. If I had to compare him to somebody I would say Nathan Peterman which is funny because Peterman was fantastic under Matt Canada.

I don't think he poses a threat to Tommy as long as TD is on campus. I still think the staff is going to land a stud in the next class that will be the heir apparent to TD. Best case scenario is Summers develops and can be a very good starter for 1-2 years.

Sorry. I'm trying to watch the ladies.
He has a nice, relaxed presence in the pocket. I can see him checking through his options with nice poise often. He doesn’t step into his throws sometimes but he shows good patience and has shows great touch on long throws.

I don’t see that ability to make people miss in the open field that Dungey has, but he has surprising straight ahead speed to escape pressure and get first downs when needed, Made a few nice throws with someone in his face, about to hit him. That is a great attribute to have as a QB.

You can see why he was named Connecticut player of the year. Great get so late in the recruiting year.
