Watched a couple YouTube stories about him. Interesting journey. Hard to understand how he hasn't been successful, somewhere. Throws a nice ball and is athletic enough. Nice HS clips. Seems a little burnt out in his college footage.

Sounds like million dollar arm 10 cent head.

From what I’ve heard about Malachi is that none of his problems are due to physical traits.

He was a 5 star for a reason… it was all mental very similar to Rickie Collins.

He had trouble processing and learning the playbook. Issues with poor decision making as well.
Hmm. Well if we give him 2026 to learn the offense, then maybe it’s possible he’ll develop into an adequate 2nd stringer next year if Odom leaves?

I have trouble processing the QB room.

Well, I don’t want a QB who openly says he wants to compete for QB3. In all seriousness, the room of:

1. Angeli
2. Odom
3. Nelson
4. Lauter
5-7. Some combo of Lott, Filardi, Belin

Is a lot better than:
1. Angeli
2. Collins
3. Filardi
4. Carney
Is there any chance a freshman like Lott is good enough to be qb 3 or 4.

I was happy with the QB room before this news, if you’re going to take a flyer then this is the type of flyer to take. Maybe our new QB coach can help him reach his potential.

Please tell me what we lose here Debbie.
Nothing. He’s perfectly fine 3rd string QB. He would have been perfect last year. At least we know we can go 3 Qb’s deep and still be able to throw a forward pass. I just don’t think we should expect anything more than that, an emergency QB.

Yes. I agree. How many first round QBs actually become good starting players? These guys are studied thoroughly over and over and you just can't tell how they will play at the next level. There is no downside here since he is already coming in as a fourth stringer. The right coach, the right fit, who knows?

Yup we know what we get with Angeli when he’s healthy. Odom will be the backup and was a first team all conference player at an FBS conference so he’s no slouch. And 3rd string you have someone coming in like Rickie…but he’s 3rd strong and not the primary back up and has high potential. Unlikely to see the 3rd string anyway (knock on wood) be our top 2 QBs are very solid options. And a program like Syracuse you aren’t gonna be 3-4 QBs deep that could start at other schools like a Bama, Texas or Ohio State. This is a really good QB room and what we needed

Agreed.

Last year, the third string QB was Carney.

No downside.
