Class of 2023 QB Rickie Collins (LA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/20/24)

Kids got a very quick trigger which is super important. He is a great get.
What do you think of his footwork?
Seems to have happy feet, but hopefully that can be improved.

It's a copy of this tweet from 3 hours ago...

But this is only parroting Axe.

Thanks OX

#1- who is going to inform them we don’t have winters anymore?
#2 - all of the lsu fans speak very highly of him!
#3- stay away from Fran brown he is ours !

Edit: I don’t think iv ever seen an opposing fan base be so happy and supportive of a transfer. Wow.

Ugh I fell for this. I actually thought there was inside info to be shared. And yes, I’m a fool for thinking it would get shared on a public message board.
There is info to be shared. I was waiting for Rickie's commitment to become official before I mentioned what I heard.

Essentially from what I was told the staff had a few targets that they weren't sure if they were going to hit the portal. The plan (which I alluded to in a previous post) was to bring in a guy they knew could play but didn't necessarily have starter experience.

However, that was the plan before people started jumping in the portal, and I believe we kicked the tires on guys like Salter and Colandrea to see if it was worthwhile. I do not know if Collins was in that initial target list, but he definitely fits the criteria the staff was looking for, especially the multiple years of eligibility part (with next year's schedule being a murderer's row).

[Redacting for now, if you saw it keep it here]

I'm not sure if Dylan Lonergan hitting the portal, and the expectation that Jalen Milroe was declaring for the draft changed anything. But Ty Simpson was someone we had our eye on.
...

So you're saying it wasn't Angeli?

I watched a lot of the tapes on QB’s we were “considering”. Just because he hasn’t played - doesn’t mean he’s not talented. If he beats out JW - we are in good hands. He was my favorite of all if then. He was not a backup option and that isn’t just my opinion.
No need to go any further. Thanks Jack to my untrained eye the kid looks excellent

people need to remember a presser isnt the white house press room. grilling someone tenaciously isnt going to get you the information you want.

having interviewed a few, coaches respect questions that indicate you've done research and understand the game. Anyone expecting a beat reporter to constantly grill is out of touch - you see these guys everyday almost.

At some point you need to do some leg work and get indicators over the long haul which is only possible with glad-handing and being likable.

This isnt the watergate hearings, which people dont get
In my experience on this board, there’s only two things that get the local reporters in trouble:

1. Asking too many probing questions.
2. Not asking enough probing questions.

I thought they would have Beau in once he hit the portal. Both players profile similarly in terms of talent but Beau has a little more playing experience.
