Agreed. I think he adds depth and competition to the qb room. He will have a chance to win the job and if he doesn’t he pushed Jakari. Not sure that’s a bad thing. I like this better than Salter.Comparing him to Allen/CDRW/Davis/Johnson is just disingenuous.
Sure, he hasn't played yet but he was stuck behind a Heisman winner, and an extremely solid Nussmeier.
Also, go watch their HS tapes. It's not comparable.
Um. No.CDRW all over again
He was 3rd string. All these top kids HS tape looks good.Comparing him to Allen/CDRW/Davis/Johnson is just disingenuous.

So if Collins is our guy, is it safe to reveal who you’ve been hinting at? Or is the name still not in the portal (in which case I understand that’s probably not a good thing to mention)? Also, go watch their HS tapes. It's not comparable.
Wish he had more than one source. Very easy to get played by one person. Multiple sources are usually standard play for these stories.Source: Syracuse expected to land LSU quarterback Rickie Collins Jr. out of transfer portal

Syracuse, N.Y. — LSU quarterback Rickie Collins Jr. intends to transfer to Syracuse, a source with knowledge of the situation told syracuse.com on Wednesday.
Collins, who visited Syracuse last week, was a four-star quarterback in the Class of 2023 and named an Elite 11 finalist during his high school days at Woodlawn in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
He will have three years of eligibility left.
Syracuse was in the market to add to a quarterback room that returns seventh-year senior Michael Johnson Jr. and redshirt freshman Jakhari Williams.
Exactly, it’s a crap shoot where more times than not you’re going to lose. It is what it is i’m not going to go on about it but with a murders row of a schedule next year having an experienced, proven QB would have been preferable. Especially when you have McCord’s recent success to sell.Isn’t Burrow like the biggest trump card here though?
it’s a fan board bud. It’s ok to have an opinion.Needlessly negative. There isn’t another McCord out there. Unless you’ve scouted him trust the coaches and let it play out.
Did you watch him in 2023? He was hurt last year, had better weapons and a different OC in 2023. If we took him after the 2023 season everyone would be salivating.I watched several Liberty games because they were on on Wednesday nights, and I’d rather have an unproven commodity than Salter. He was unimpressive.
Maybe in 1975Fwiw the name Rickie Collins just screams good college football qb
so yeah, he was 3rd string freshman and sophomore year?

Former LSU quarterback Rickie Collins has decided on a new school after entering the transfer portal earlier this month.
Collins is transferring to Syracuse, according to a report from Syracuse.com's Brent Axe on Wednesday.
Through two seasons with the Tigers, Collins totaled four appearances with seven passes for 38 yards while also adding 18 yards on the ground. In his true freshman season, he sat behind Heisman winner Jayden Daniels and backup Garrett Nussmeier. Collins retained the same role on the depth chart in 2024 as Vanderbilt transfer AJ Swann was the backup.
A Baton Rouge, LA native, Collins played high school football at Woodlawn. He flipped to his home state school after originally choosing Purdue. He was the No. 13 prospect in Louisiana and No. 17 at the quarterback position, drawing a four-star ranking from On3's Industry Rankings.
The dual-threat quarterback joins a Syracuse team that went 9-3 in its first season under head coach Fran Brown. Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord joined the Orange and finished tenth in the 2024 Heisman voting. It seems that Collins is looking to follow McCord's lead as the latter sets his sights on the 2025 NFL Draft.
Collins' chances of the seeing the field consistently in Baton Rouge were slim, especially after Nussmeier announced his return for a final year. However, his physical attributes and dual threat game will make him competitive at Syracuse.

I get your reservations, we have certainly gotten our fair share of “stud” high school guys who transferred here and did nothing for us. At the very least he is very talented and it shows that we can pull in these type of players quickly to replace those leaving. This is still a great grab and we have three high end talents who will be competing with Collins, Williams, and Luke. You can never have too many elite high school guys as someone will rise to the top.so yeah, he was 3rd string freshman and sophomore year?
i’m fine with it. I hope they take another. If you don’t have a QB you don’t have a team. Never can have enough. The "I Ruin Everything" bus is getting pretty full. How about we all just wait and see what happens here as it isn't a done deal.
That’s why I’m getting excited about the potential that we have a highly touted recruit looking to step into the limelight under this coaching staff. I’m looking at it bright eyed like when we thought DeVito was ready to take over but he won’t run out of bounds behind the LOSExactly, it’s a crap shoot where more times than not you’re going to lose. what kind of vibes? i don’t feel any vibes? should i feel be feeling something? And your opinion appears to be based on vibes.
This tells me that the staff is confident in the qb’s they have recruited and this commit is to bolster the competition.I would lower your expectations, because most of the pool we are evaluating are high upside guys that haven't played at their current schools.
