Fran should just say okay. We are on to our next guy. See what he has to say at that point. He got it wrong. Player himself said he’s not committed anywhere. Axe should be drawn and quartered.
Would not expect this to happen….
More likely he got it from someone in the program when it wasn’t a done deal yet. If it was from Collins he has every right to out him as the source. But that’s the only acceptable single source to run this story with. He should have gotten multiple sources. His source may not have been aware the deal wasn’t done yet. Maybe his agent wants leverage as they finalize NIL. Maybe it’s not committable yet. Who knows.Seems pretty simple. Collins wants to commit. Axe got it from Collins. Rickie didn’t clear it with Fran. He’s possibly not a take.
Could be. It could also be that Collins wants to have a big to do about it.Seems pretty simple. Collins wants to commit. Axe got it from Collins. Rickie didn’t clear it with Fran. He’s possibly not a take.
for it to be acceptedThe kid to eventually commit?
There is a big problem with that statement by Holland. Here it is. Often times, the reporters get the scoop which they are judged by and they wait and the school gives it to a national guy or the agent does. Happens all the time. I guarantee you that a lot of the scoops that Pete T gets, a local guy somewhere had and was asked to wait for an official announcement. Reporters get really ticked off by that.
FactsThis would be less crazy if he didn’t repost the commitment picture that was put out and then delete it again. Maybe he decided he’ll commit on his own terms?
Mike Waters gets a ton of recruit scoops and holds them because of the players wishes. Just look at Petar M. Committed and Mike had a fully sourced long piece about him within an hour. There is a big problem with that statement by Holland. Here it is. You are right. This would be less crazy if he didn’t repost the commitment picture that was put out and then delete it again. Maybe he decided he’ll commit on his own terms?

Well, Mike has what I described happen to him more times than I can count.Mike Waters gets a ton of recruit scoops and holds them because of the players wishes. Just look at Petar M. Committed and Mike had a fully sourced long piece about him within an hour.

Go back outHe was committed when I went out for errands & is now not committed? Awesome.
i get the multiple sources, i’m assuming his source was in Collins camp because he posted he committed shortly after Axe but didn’t have the go ahead from Fran.More likely he got it from someone in the program when it wasn’t a done deal yet. It’s also the nature of being a local reporter who has to handle things differently vs the national guys. Only market where the local folks truly compete with the national guys is typically nyc. And to a lesser extent some of the professional teams in the nfl and a few other markets.Well, Mike has what I described happen to him more times than I can count.
Could be. I just assume axe doesn’t have broad college football sources. He’s been in Syracuse forever and never reports on anything else. He thought he had a tip and it was likely just premature even if it is true in the end. Either way he’s going to look bad. Just the nature of it all. I’m just being snarky because I think the tv journalists tend to be sloppier than print ones. And Brent’s always been a tv guy and commentator first.i get the multiple sources, i’m assuming his source was in Collins camp because he posted he committed shortly after Axe but didn’t have the go ahead from Fran.
To be fair, the players have this moment every year now
Rubbish. This isn’t some fresh face high school kid. He’s a 21 year old free agent y making a business decision. He had his moment when he signed for LSU.
yea those national reporters have it easy. They don’t have to sit and get drilled by Fran in some of those press conference. Local reporters have to attend all the pressers and Fran definitely doesn’t hold back on someone he feels was negative towards them. It’s also the nature of being a local reporter who has to handle things differently vs the national guys.
