Class of 2023 QB Rickie Collins (LA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/20/24)

I have it on good authority dasher was axe source, these two were in cahoots.
Sdot working his source:

He got it wrong. Player himself said he’s not committed anywhere. Axe should be drawn and quartered.
He worded it specifically in the article to say that he had not "officially" committed but the "expectation" was that he "intends to" commit.

Not technically wrong, but definitely not correct.

My reading of the situation is Brent got the info from someone in Rickie's camp. Rickie "confirmed" that he was committing by reposting the On3 image. The staff probably told him to hang tight and that he should've called them first. Either way it looks like a mess.

But tweets like this are just silly.

Brent will probably wait to see if the staff ends up accepting the commitment eventually, so his info will still be correct, in the grand scheme of things. If Collins goes elsewhere, he can issue a retraction.

Im not qualified to comment on that but Jack sure as heck is and if this was his top pick im very happy

Hard to see footwork of what he’s done since at LSU but in all his tapes, when his weight is on his front foot - he slings the crap out of it. I really like his hips as well. Does a really nice job of squaring up when on the move. I think that’s what makes him dangerous out of the pocket.

i don’t drink but you better put down the kool aid. Still waiting for those 5
i have no idea what you're asking

if youre asking me "what games would we have won with Schraeder in over Kyle" - and I'm not sure you are - you're asking me to divide by zero. It's an impossible question to answer

I think the concern with grow your own is even that's far from a lock. What happens if one of our young guys ball out and big SEC $ comes calling that we can't match?

It's a difficult situation to manage, no perfect solution but as Don Draper says, "that's what the money's for."

Competition brings out the best in everyone. Even the blue chip schools bring in 5-stars every year. Kids at that level aren't concerned with who's in front.

I feel like we have 3 prospects as good as any unproven guys we have had on the roster in quite a while. A 4 star transfer from LSU, a high quality kid from Texas, and an athletic incumbent who has a year in the program.

The only real negative I have seen on this kid is that his throwing motion gets long sometimes but everything else screams future star. The reports that I have seen really talk up his accuracy and athletic ability. He should be a great blend of what we are looking for. Someone who can hit all the throws with accuracy but also be able to use his legs to escape and make plays with his legs.

Would Fran be willing to turn the keys over to this kid without any game reps to talk about?

Yeah, he seems to wind up a little bit on some throws. You see it more in game tape than the pro day tape.

The article was updated after a few hours. Not sure what was originally written.

He has talent but I was hoping for a qb with actual game experience

It's ok, this is fine. Coming into McNabb's freshman year, it was him, Kevin Johnson and Keith Downing was the guy with a year as a back-up.
Yes, it's a tough schedule for an unproven guy taking over, but all three of them will get fair competition and their share of pre-season snaps. This could be a good thing, at least in terms of building for the next few years.
