Class of 2023 QB Rickie Collins (LA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (12/20/24)

"Just what can you say about your first 2 days with your new team?" DT signature question lol
One of the best things about SU being good again and having a charismatic coach is that there should be more national media members at our ACC Media Day news conferences. Meaning we won’t be subjected to 80% of the questions coming from Tortora

Sounds like McCord got his answer.
It doesn't "sound" anything of the sort.

Collins has transferred, and he is nearly eligible to join his new team. He's taking advantage of the opportunity to take some snaps. No more, no less.

That is completely independent of whatever happens with McCord.

I watched Cuse’s Instagram story from tonight. McCord, Johnson, Williams, and Miller doing warm up jogs in the same line. Pretty tight shot, no other black jerseys spotted.

This means nothing, I just wanted to share that I’m being vigilant.

How did Philcox not wind up the backup QB for the Bengals in Tecmo Super Bowl?

Just what can you say about Rickie joining the team at this stage and just the extra set of eyes he brings to the QB room?

I can say that anybody with 20/20 vision also
just brings an extra set of eyes to the QB room. :p

Two Thoughts on this Rickie Collins thread ...

1. Two inches shorter, but Rickie's body type and throwing motion reminds me of former Saints QB Aaron Brooks. He was a really good college QB at Virginia and is now a member of the NO Saints Hall of Fame. Good pro. Rickie will likely tighten up his motion further and it will make him more accurate. I like this signing. If Jakari is better, so be it. Same for Carney, Belin or Filardi.

2. Todd Philcox was an excellent QB at SU. Those youngins just looking at his stats are not giving him a fair shake. Football was much, much different in the late 1980s. Especially CFB. Way less passing and the average throw was further down the field than it is today. Thus, the completion percentages were much lower. And the TD/INT ratios were wildly different in those days. Don't sleep on Philcox and his overall excellence.

The West Coast offense (which we now just call offense) wasn't popularized until Bill Walsh ran the 49ers in the 80's through the early 90's and won Super Bowls with two different quarterbacks playing it.

Even 25 years ago, guys had career numbers comparable to McCord's season this year, and were considered good players.

Look at McNabb's numbers. Even considering we were a run first team, his passing attempts are just ridiculously low by modem standards. His senior year, after which he was drafted second overall, he only attempted 22.8 passes per game. Only 6 teams attempted fewer passes per game this season.

McCord attempted double McNabb's passes per game this season.

Who knows what Philcox, or McNabb, would have done in this modern era.
