I hear he's perfect for the 90's Shanahan Broncos offense we'll be seeing again this year.who the hell is russell austin? can he start this year?

Long lacks arm strength?
No offense, but this is silly. We really have no idea what type of player or person Womack is. You basically described AJ Long. The only difference is Womack wasn't thrown into the middle of a trainwreck as an 18 year old long before he was ready to play college football. My guess is Womack would not have fared much better, and likely would have done worse.
Is there a correlation between weight and arm strength? And if so, is Long forever doomed to be 165 pounds?Yes, Long lacks arm strength. Did you watch him play last year? He's 165 lbs.
He also lacks mobility for someone that lacks height and arm strength.
It was windy at the Wake game and AJ'S lack of arm strength really was obvious. If that doesn't improve he will be limited in the passing game. Maybe he will make up for it in other areas. Is there a correlation between weight and arm strength? And if so, is Long forever doomed to be 165 pounds?
Long should have never been playing in 2014. Despite that, at no point during his time playing QB did I think "Oh man, his ball just doesn't have the velocity to make it at this level."
Long already has the prerequisite "arm strength" and that will only improve as he gets stronger. He looked as good as any QB we've recently had against Wake (ACC Rookie of the Week in his first ever start) and NC State (300+ yards passing).
I just think it's dumb that many fans here are already writing him off simply because he was forced to play in a crappy offense before he should have and his underdeveloped 165 pound body seemingly broke down. Yet these same people will call one of our 2-star recruits magical.
My man. You called me silly? Have I called you that before? Have I offended? Better yet, do I offend anyone on this forum that gives their opinion? I value everyone's opinion whether I agree or not. Dont ever call me silly again.Long lacks arm strength?

Again, obviously its all optimistism and guessing based on h.s. film. When I use words like magic and special. Im obviously exagerrating a bit to get you guys excited. We need something to make us feel hopeful so forgive me for being excited. KW might be a legit QB or he might suck and move to a different position. But I HOPE he's the answer at QB. He is the BEST athlete out of all of them and he would provide something different to the position. So I am hopeful for that. I dont know that. None of us know. IS THAT BETTER? CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOPING AND KNOWING? but you and I are gonna have to talk about the silly comment bruh. And Long is two inches taller than Russell Wilson. Who cares?
You're right that we don't know how any of this will play out - which is why it is silly to describe a kid from Alabama that no one recruited as magical. "There's something special about him." I mean come on.
I know the quality of this video sucks but you can see his arm strength here. Scroll to 2:26, for example. You can't tell me throwing a TD on a line with a flick of the wrist on the run while getting hit isn't impressive. Scroll to 4:26 for an example of the mobility he lacks. A frozen rope at 4:47 / 5:10.It was windy at the Wake game and AJ'S lack of arm strength really was obvious. If that doesn't improve he will be limited in the passing game. The potential is there.
Every one has potential. I just dont see the upside in him. With his measurables he's gonna have to be super to keep Culpepper, KW and Dungey on the bench. Those plays dont show arm strength. lol My present H.S QB can throw those same routes with the same zip and velocity. Those are routine throws that any college QB can make. The staff changed their pass scheme because of AJ's lack of arm strength. Thats why alot of our pass plays were changed for him to sprint out and throw to one side of the field and thrown on the run in order to complete the deep out routes. He's putting his whole body into those throws in that video and the ball is still not traveling far. He surprised FSU because their was no tape on him and no game plan against him. Once teams saw film on him it was over. I like AJ as a person. Very smart and football savy. I need to see a year of development with him and then see where he's at. You can only add so much weight to that 5'11 frame before it starts to become disfunctional weight. I dont think he's the answer.I know the quality of this video sucks but you can see his arm strength here. Scroll to 2:26, for example. All the QB's have potential. Doesnt mean squat. He did great for being thrown in a unfair situation but that's it. He doesnt get a pass from me because he made a few plays as a true freshman. He's gonna have to hold off some good QB 's that were recruited. I just dont see it. No I dont see the upside. and I love AJ. Exciting, confident kid, good recruiter. Just because I like him doesnt mean Im going to lie to him. I tell my players that everyday. Gonna keep it real. Prove me wrong. Hopefully that motivates him and he becomes an All ACC QB.Not everyone has potential.
And not everyone is physically mature like a Lebron James straight out of high school. Long was forced into a crappy offense at 18 years old, 165 pounds dripping wet and won ACC Rookie of the Week in his first start. And you don't see the upside there yet the kid from Alabama with no offers is "magical." lol Hey, we're all entitled to opinions.
Gonna keep it real.
Ah yes. I look forward to watching you continue to "keep it real."That leaves Mr. Womack- There is one thing missing from all the other candidates and that's " Magic". There's something special about him. Its a feeling I have and I know some of you have it too.
God forbid someone - who is an actual football coach, mind you - watched film on Womack and thinks he's got legitimate talent, and it flies in the face of your own opinions. How dare he.Ah yes. I look forward to watching you continue to "keep it real."
everyone is so passive/aggressive today in this joint. I saw nothing wrong with money's Womack opinion.jekelish said:God forbid someone - who is an actual football coach, mind you - watched film on Womack and thinks he's got legitimate talent, and it flies in the face of your own opinions. Yeah well, you're a potato.everyone is so passive/aggressive today in this joint. I saw nothing wrong with money's Womack opinion.
Its cool fellas. I value everyone's opinion on here. I dont have the answers and Im not always right just because I coach. I learn alot from the guys on this forum. I enjoy hearing different perspectives. I was obviously being optimistic about KW. Hoping it will generate some overall excitement. It was just an opinion. Everyone on here should be able to express themselves freely. I am going to be the better person and not take jabs at him because I dont jab, I throw power punches and I have too much respect for this site to do that.everyone is so passive/aggressive today in this joint. I think it's safe to say we can probably forget about Alin Edouard at this point. It's a Mark Konecny thing, I'm afraid.Don't forget Alin Edouard: http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootb...ransferring_to_new_juco_still_interested.html
His tape is the best I've seen:
How dare I have an opinion that someone calling a kid "magical" while later on saying he's "gonna keep it real" is a bit of a contradiction. It's all in good fun, I should have included a after my last post. I hope Womack wins two Heisman's.God forbid someone - who is an actual football coach, mind you - watched film on Womack and thinks he's got legitimate talent, and it flies in the face of your own opinions. You realize he's not actually calling him "magical" right? He's not suggesting he's about to transfer to Hogwarts. I read it to mean he think that Womack has that "it" factor that some players just seem to have. You're taking the "magic" thing absurdly overboard. How dare I have an opinion that someone calling a kid "magical" while later on saying he's "gonna keep it real" is a bit of a contradiction.
