QB situation for 2016 and on...

You realize he's not actually calling him "magical" right? He's not suggesting he's about to transfer to Hogwarts. I read it to mean he think that Womack has that "it" factor that some players just seem to have. You're taking the "magic" thing absurdly overboard.
Jekelish he has to be jokin right? he cant be serious. Somebody tell me this dude is joking or something is wrong with him.

Its cool fellas. I value everyone's opinion on here. I dont have the answers and Im not always right just because I coach. I learn alot from the guys on this forum. I enjoy hearing different perspectives. I was obviously being optimistic about KW. Hoping it will generate some overall excitement. It was just an opinion. Everyone on here should be able to express themselves freely. I am going to be the better person and not take jabs at him because I dont jab, I throw power punches and I have too much respect for this site to do that.
Thank you so much for being the better person.

But you said you were going to be the better person!

Like I said, it's all in good fun. :)

I think it's safe to say we can probably forget about Alin Edouard at this point. It's a Mark Konecny thing, I'm afraid.

You did read the article, right?

Dang that's just depressing...
Ugh. Almost forgot how much potential was there. If he was going to be a Soph or redshirt Frosh this year that would be awesome. But after losing two years he's not likely to have much of an impact even if he were eligible to make it to Cuse in 2016. Still wish him well in life from here on out though.

His previous JUCO coaches moved him to safety. If he can't cut it at QB for Joe's Junior College, I don't think he'll make it in the ACC.

But it is a valuable lesson for those who have a tendency to fall for those magical high school tapes.

Maybe they already had a QB and maybe that's why he transferred.

I recall going Ga-Ga over Michael Gbinje's high school tape and seeing nothing of the same player when he got here. But last year, as the season progressed, those abilities started to show themselves and I expect a big year from Michael this season. The same thing could happen for Edouard. I'd like to see it happen here.

I agree with jekelish on this one. There is a very small chance of him ever making it to Syracuse.

This thread is hilarious. Other QBs who were once described as magical or having 'it' factors.

Cecil the Diesel (complete fail)
Joe Fields (pretty good safety)
Perry Patterson (if not for those knees)
Andrew Robinson (Do we remember the 'Ville?)
Cody Catalina (he is AWESOME in 7-on-7s)
Drew Allen (He's from OK!!!!!)
Zach Allen (He's not coming!!!)
Matt Hale (Just making sure you're paying attention lol)
Jonny Miller (****)
Ashton Broyld (he's just so athletic)
David Legree (see Ashton Broyld)

Do I need to go on?

Here's what we KNOW:
Culpepper : isn't even signed yet
Dungey : Hasn't seen a D1 defense or playbook
Womack : Hasn't seen a D1 defense or playbook
Wilson : Had trouble running offense against Villanova, didn't impress in other appearances.
Long : Looked good against FSU as a true frosh, needs time to develop, potential medical shoulder/arm issue
Hunt : 5th year senior who is realistically our only hope at a bowl game

In regards to Wilson's and Long's performances last year, our OC sucked, our OL was depleted and our best WR was a true frosh. Let's all hope the first two issues have been corrected. Ishmael is not a true frosh and added 30 pounds to man up against ACC DBs, that is one issue I consider corrected already.

See I've been the blind optimist, and the angry pessimist. I've also been a diehard Republican and voted the entire Liberal line. I can assure you that I'm much happier as an independent and a realist. Realist doesn't mean pessimist. That would be saying oh these guys suck, fire everyone, blah blah blah. But to sit here and proclaim each friggen class as the next group of saviors isn't anyway to live your life either. The very real fact remains that these are real people leaving home for the first time and trying to adjust to the highest level of play offered to their age group. Our incoming QBs are 18/19 year old kids going up against guys who have spent 4 years with D1 level coaches, film study, and body conditioning. True frosh aren't saviors, they are recruits, nothing more, nothing less. It matters what happens once they get here. My motto over the years has become...'Not a peep till you make the 2-deep'. FWIW, I don't watch that lousy spectacle the NFL draft anymore either...might as well draw names out of a hat and flip a coin to see if they'll make it or not.

Realists don't have fun. Part of the reason I follow sports and recruiting is that feeling that you might have something special in that player or that season. Optimism alone gets endorphins moving.

optimism is great until you blow your hand off with a m-80 and ruin the season before it gets started...

This is where you get into trouble. I have plenty of fun, and I'm a realist. And I'd venture a guess that I follow sports and Syracuse sports just as closely if not closer than you do.

Just because you do something doesn't make it wrong for the other people to do it the other way.

That sounds rather Darwinian...

I have lots of fun, with the guys on the 2-deep, when I'm screaming from my seats for them to kick Clemson's tail! Not guys who never make it campus. It's not like I'm some perfect 50/50 realist. Fact is I give us a chance to win every game, even the un-winnables as they are called. I'm just saying I don't put my hopes on guys who haven't played a down yet.

But seriously, what you laid out shows why I think Long makes the most sense.

Props for the Hale reference.

I didn't say you should do that too - do what you want. I'm not judging you or Pyle's way of being a fan (for real and honest). I get on the overtly negative people because I do think their influence hurts the fanbase with no real positive outcome in mind.

I just said it's more fun to hope/dream about what could be - than to not. It's proven that a bunch of endorphins start banging around in your head when you're anticipating something. I like this more that I hate the disappointment of having it not come true at a later date. What's the drawback? People say you're all rainbows and unicorns? People dig on you when it doesn't pan out? You get tired of getting disappointed? I can handle all that.

You get tired of getting disappointed?

For me it's this, 1000x this. Disappointment leads to anger, anger leads to apathy, apathy leads to raking leaves. I FRIGGEN HATE RAKING LEAVES!!!!!

Between the Lions and Syracuse I can only handle so much disappointment, so I said to heck with it and stopped caring so much about recruiting or the Draft. Now I get to save all my disappointment for gameday.

it must suck going through life without an ability to make fun of yourself and the situation you are in, while also hoping & praying for the most positive outcome there can be.

you must be a lot of fun at parties.

i worry about you...

Sweet K, you don't know me. I laugh at myself plenty and take life pretty easy. I'm not hoping and praying for the best outcome without being aware of the worst. I just choose to hope for the best.

You keep digging at me assuming that "unicorns and rainbow" talk bothers me. It just illustrates something about you.
