Matt Hale (Just making sure you're paying attention lol)
I remember all of us back in 2003 trying like hell to convince ourselves that Hale was just overlooked because he played in Canada. "He has all the measurables!"Props for the Hale reference.
unbelievable, there are times where I just shake my head as a Giants fan. You can't make some of the stuff up we've witnessed over the past decade.optimism is great until you blow your hand off with a m-80 and ruin the season before it gets started...
Awww you poor Giants fans. Only two Super Bowl titles over this brutal decade? Come here, let this Bills fan hold you. There, there, cry it out...unbelievable, there are times where I just shake my head as a Giants fan. You can't make some of the stuff up we've witnessed over the past decade.
The drought the Bills have endured would make a North African's knees tremble.Awww you poor Giants fans. Only two Super Bowl titles over this brutal decade? Come here, let this Bills fan hold you. There, there, cry it out...

I have a feeling your fortunes are going to change soon, and, not because of your shiny new retread HC. Your ownership will do what's necessary.
Agreed. Everyone talks about Rex Ryan, but unless you have players in the NFL you don't win. Ryan has proven he is capable of advancing teams to the playoffs & championship games, even with mediocre QB play - but the Pegulas are loaded and are committed to the franchise. They're not in it to make a buck because they don't really need one. Wilson was as stingy as they come (I don't blame him necessarily). Total culture change for the better. Can't wait for the season to start.
Also, the parallels between QB play at Syracuse & Buffalo are astonishing. Neither one has had a good one since the late 90s. (Bledsoe & Nassib wash each other out). JP Losman, Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brian Brohm, EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis, Jeff Tuel, Kyle Orton. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Nassib was way better for Syracuse than Bledsoe was for Buffalo. Bledsoe was good for maybe half of his first season in Buffalo.Neither one has had a good one since the late 90s. (Bledsoe & Nassib wash each other out).

Alright, if we're assuming that wins are the only measure of a quarterback's worth than here are the numbers. Both started for their teams for three years.Bledsoe finished 8-8 one year, 9-7 in his last full season w/ the Bills. Nassib's best season he finished 7-5 twice in regular season and won two bowl games. Comparable - not "way better".

Bledsoe: 23 - 25 (.479)
Nassib: 21 - 17 (.553)
I think the difference is fairly significant.
Ahh, so you agree that there might be more to the story than tallying wins and losses? Anyway, I don't think we will agree on this as it's subjective. My own experience with watching the Bills particularly in 2003 and 2004 was that QB was the weakest position on the team. At best, Bledsoe was mediocre for the Bills. He was a statue that couldn't make quick decisions at a time where you could no longer have a QB like that in the NFL. While one can certainly argue that Nassib was mediocre for most of two seasons, he did have an all-time great season for a QB at Syracuse. At no point in Nassib's career did I feel he was weakest link on the team. I feel like Bledsoe held the Bills back. I never felt that way about Nassib. Comparing Bledsoe to Nassib just made me a little sick as I see Bledsoe's tenure with the Bills as forgettable. I remember Nassib, at least his final season, quite fondly. I assume you experienced these times differently, which I respect. You don't play Stony Brook, Maine, Colgate & Rhode Island in the NFL. Those are baked in wins and boost the winning percentage.
Against D1 opponents, Nassib's winning percentage is .500. Bledsoe's winning percentage against comparable opponents is two games below .500 with more games.
Not really significant.
Finwad32 said:As fondly as I remember Nassib's Syracuse days, I also remember his feet mirroring Michael Flatley's in the face of pressure. Succinctly followed by a 106-mph heater to a 5-yard in. All this being said, he's apparently made great strides with the Giants and will most likely be their primary backup again this season. Honestly, Marrone and the Bills would most likely have been better off picking Ryan later and building the rest of the roster. They brought in a veteran anyway, what would've been the difference?
