Things I like about Angeli are his mobility, in the pocket and rolling the pocket, and looking at/utilizing
his TEs. QB competition will be stout and of great benefit for the talented newbies.

If CUSE can hold its own physically against this year's schedule, other programs can't take the week off when the Orange come to town.

I think the losing the locker room stuff is faux drama. The players know more than anybody how this is now a business. Factor that in with Fran's apparent up front style - I think the team is tight, and the recent interview with Barron, Meeks, Kyle, and Wax seems to prove that.

Yep exactly and when he has more of a regular role, it’ll come out more and more which was exactly what Greg McElroy was talking about in that clip earlier in the thread.

Many have said this or insinuated it, but he agreed to whatever that NIL agreement was and that hasn’t changed. Not sure what’s out there on the market right now but I don’t know for sure if he’s going to have much of a market with most teams maxed out.

But that’s a higher floor than what we have now I would think.

McCord threw into some ridiculously tight windows last year. We’re not getting that kind of accuracy from the current room, and that’s okay.

The throw against Pitt at around the 1:05 mark is really really good and shouldn't be understated. That is a hard throw for college QBs. Rolling to the left cross-body on the run throw against pressure and leading the WR perfectly for a TD is very hard that throw sold me, to be honest.

Who in this thread said Angeli can't run? Whoever you were you should watch this game tape. Absolutely can run well enough to do anything Nixon wants. Nice throws, some different arm angles even like McCord.
Side note though: Angeli also looks good because he had a huge and talented oline. The only way we see this version of Angeli is if we add another starter. We don't need more depth guys but at Center if you don't think Khalil Stewart can handle. (I think Stewart can) . Give me another starting tackle or guard though.

In my entire 45 years of fandom, I’ve never felt worse than Troy Nunes first game. The drop off from McNabb to Nunes was shocking.

That was great foresight by you, because Nunes actually played fairly well that game. We got out to a 28-0 lead at Toledo and never looked back.

One more OL is probably right [Ferguson?]. But as to Angelli, clearly he is more mobile than KM, which gives Nixon flexibility. His throwing motion is quicker and more compact than Collins. Not many deep throws; he might not have the range of KM (or maybe Collins). But the key points are: he can see the field; he can check down under pressure; and he can find and hit the open receiver. Don't assume there isn't some swag to his game either: notice the sidearm sling and the flip on the run against Pitt at 1:05. And he had the strength to hit a pin-point out route against tight coverage. Those are big-game skills that might have made Angelli stand out to the staff.

Brent Axe mentioned today he heard Luke Carney had a very strong end to spring camp, started taking reps away from Jakhari. There's going to be plenty of competition in the qb room for the next couple of years.

As for Colins being named starter really no big deal in terms of any judgments. As A coach or player one views the college football year in segments.

It was appropriate to name a starter for the spring segment and have no problem with Fran naming Collins the guy. In the fall segment it’s a whole new ball game with lots of new faces. you need to understand that as a new player, meaning, one who has not done anything appreciably on the field in live game action in the regular or post season. It’s an open competition for the number one designation at any position and let the best man win as it should be.

Notice, I said, new player, On the other hand, if a player has been here for a while, and doing it earning his designation as a starter That’s a different story. You go from the spring into the fall segment as the number one guy and it’s your position to lose only if you’re not performing in games.

What happened to Kyle at Ohio State is abysmal and emblematic of what is wrong at the highest level of the sport.

Collins apparently has had surgery on his thumb so that’s another factor to consider. Angeli is cerebral player, has poise, has better athleticism than Kyle, has good enough arm to hit some tight windows like he did in the Oregon State game, and apparently also has the intangibles of leadership ability. And on the field experience and success both in some meaningless games coming in late, starting a bowl game with a little more meaning and finally coming in a game with a lot of meaning.

In each, he showed well above average physical and mental ability for the position. Dude is legit. I don’t know enough about Collins to say or see if he’s legit or not and maybe he has similar attributes, this because there’s literally no relevant film on him so as of right now pencil in Angeli as qb 1 come fall evals.

If that does not transpire, I will be seriously amazed, because that means we have another McNabb on our hands, and wouldn’t that be nice

I watched Angelli in the last two postseason appearances. I agree with your assessment overall except for the athleticism part - I don't think he's notably more athletic than KM. Don't get me wrong though - it's a good pickup for the orange.

It's ridiculous. I've seen 8th graders handle a new QB in the room more maturely than some in our fanbase this week. There is only one QB on the field at a time. These guys are used to the competition.

I get it, but I view the schools I mention as above Florida and South Carolina, at least performance wise over the past ten years
