Class of 2016 QB/TE (Jasen) Jay Rose (CT) Leaving UConn

the red shirt doesn't matter. So long as he graduates and has eligibility remaining, he can transfer to another school to do graduate work in a program not offered by SU.
So he would have to graduate after his RS-Jr season (4th year on campus), correct?

Correct. If you graduate in four years and still have one year of eligibility left, you can transfer to a school with a grad program that your current school doesn't offer and play immediately.

I don't think that Wilson goes anywhere. I think he stays, gets his degree and continues to be a team player.

I think that's the likely scenario all things considered. Another possibility is AJ switching positions and/or transferring. I don't think that happens either but it wouldn't completely surprise me.

Have you listened to Dungeys' presser from Saturday? There is a comment in there that was interesting.

Hope thats the case! He seems like a good kid who is well liked! Want those type of kids in the program and to feel a part of the team regardless of playing time!

No I didn't - what did he say?

I am paraphrasing but he mentions how the other QBs Austin and Zack help him by telling him what they are seeing on the field during the game. Thought there was an interesting omission there.

That is interesting. Especially since AJ is such a cheerleader.

I've been saying for a year now that I wish Joe Fields would get in AJ's ear and let him know there is another path to the NFL if he's willing to work (which by all indication he is a worker) and tell AJ his own personal story being an undersized QB with no NFL chance who converted to a DB that had a nice professional career. I could see AJ transferring more than I can see Wilson.

Joe Fields was 6-1, 210, and had elite athleticism.

AJ Long is 5-10, 180 and does not.

Not sure there's much of a similarity between the two. I think a transfer is the most likely scenario.

I agree with you re: transferring being most likely...especially after all the work he's put in to be a QB with Madei and the special training mask, etc...and I also agree Long doesn't have the size or athleticism as Fields. But someone should get in his ear and let him know that playing QB in the NFL (or at a P-5 level) probably isn't in the cards. I'd love for him to stay and either be a system QB or play CB. Can never have enough CB's. Speaking of which, former WR Corey Winfield is looking real good for being relatively new there.

I still think we need to take another QB besides Rex. Hunt probably won't get a medical redshirt. And I don't think Wilson or Long are going to see much of the field. Need numbers for the future.
Why would Hunt or SU apply for a Medical redshift, unless the kid wants to start his master's and be a back up.

Wasn't Rose supposed to announce Sunday or Monday? Sunday has come and gone and Monday is near gone.

That's the word. Monday isn't over yet. Remember, Monquavion Brinson announced late on a Monday night.

Keep in mind the kid has been in school and then, presumably practice.

Not very confident in this one Jek?

If he picks UConn I'll admire the kid for choosing to stay home and rep his state but if the kid is as good as advertised idk how he passes up an opportunity to play in the ACC

Speaking of Winfield - they should think about a couple of red zone plays for him at WR what with his 68" vertical.

Led or Lead...50/50 chance

To me it sounds like he is now trending towards Syracuse if he is delaying his decision a few extra days
That was my thought. UConn is taking one last chance to convince him. But I could be wrong.

" Rose also visited Pratt & Whitney Stadium for the UConn-Villanova game, saying he had a great time. We know he's down to Syracuse and UConn, but not sure which way he's leaning.

If Rose chooses UConn, he would become the 8th member of the recruiting class- one that is shaping up quite nicely."

I believe he's deciding at 230 today, FYI. Or 130...have to double check. Either way it's early afternoon.
