Class of 2026 QB Zaid Lott (NC) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (3/25/25)

So allot happens behind the scenes. Perhaps Fran thought the other QBs were stringing things out. Maybe the player wanted to be paid. Just saying people are acting like Fran had a pick of 5 QBs and he chose who he chose. What he and Nixon did do was offer a talented if raw QB who in turn accepted. Win/Win. Again 6'4 210, strong arm, compact motion, can move around the pocket. Again a really good pickup.
And a previous North Carolina commit who Mack Brown must have liked. The kid is no slouch

I’m in the Carolinas and my son’s team played against his team in 7 on 7 last year.

Big kid. Cannon for an arm. Could work on his accuracy. Physically, reminded me of a young version of Joe Milton.

Very impressed with his maturity. Not uncommon for players to get out of control with the celebrations and trash talking at these 7 on 7 tournaments, but he was all business. Good plays, bad plays, he maintained the same demeanor. Lot of tools to work with.
Good insight. Those are qualities Fran loves too...

I get the feeling that Belichek's UNC team wasn't really trying very hard to hold on to him. I had also read that they are also still pursuing other QB's.

Well, there you go. " It kinda felt off" Not sure what he's talking about. Coach is 100, girlfriend is in a training bra. Seems fine to me.
Don’t get the hate on him for who he is spending time with. Good for him.

Yes, the strong arm really stands out. Perfect throwing technique. Legitimate size. Poise in the pocket. Excellent athleticism. Quick, strong and agile too.

And one of the quickest triggers I have ever seen for a HS QB.

There’s a lot to like here.
Reminds me of Cam Ward a bit

Fran mentioned on the triple option podcast "i just got a QB that i just flipped from a program that was about to sign commit to us, cause they wasn't talking to him enough. I am! Consistent!"

Assuming this is zaid but love to hear this no matter who it's about

Part 2 - My son’s team played Zaid again today. Physically, the kid is a freaking grown man. Looks like he’s put on 10-15 pounds of muscle since I saw him last year. Just an absolute rocket of an arm.

That being said, 7 on 7 can be fools gold at times because the reads are simple and obviously there’s no rush, so it’s hard to gauge a kid’s ability to process information at real game speed, move around the pocket, and escape a rush. But, no doubt he looks the part and has the arm.

Also, one of his receivers was Gordon Sellars, the Clemson commit. Yes, he’s a stud too.

Thanks for the update. How did his throwing motion look, does the ball come out with tight spiral?

The trend with a lot of young QB’s now is more of a 3/4 type arm slot delivery versus the traditional over the top. I’d say Zaid is closer to the more traditional over the top. It does look like he’s shortened his motion up a bit too. More compact. I think that’s due to him growing into his body. Big and long limbed last year. Now, a big, muscular kid. Very tight spiral. No concerns there.

Good stuff. thanks for sharing dawg.

He reminds me of RG3 with his delivery at times. If he can run like him it will be tough going for our ACC foes.

He’s more of a pocket passer doesn’t really run much. Gives me Cj Stroud vibes.
