We are one week away from the kickoff to the Syracuse football season and by my count there is ONE live, local sports show on the radio in Syracuse (Infanti and Paulie) - from 11-1p.

How on Earth does Galaxy, who has the rights to SU athletics, not have a live show on during the drive time rush?

Firing Higgins IMO was a terrible move.

How do you expect to keep fans engaged if there isn't anything on your airwaves to keep them there? During the season you'd "think" that you'd want to keep fans tuned to your channel, promote the games and shows, all while selling an ad or two. I don't understand Galaxy's plan (if there is one).

Where are YOU, the fan, getting your SU radio/pod fix?

There's no more Axe (live), Manchild Show is off doing YouTube, and there is no morning show in cny talking sports.

Syracuse isn't a big local talk radio market. Outside of a % of people on this board no one really cares about local live sports radio. Hate to be that blunt about it but that's the reality. Higgins was let go because there was no ratings and $$.

Paulie and Steve are good guys and solid hosts. But at the end of the day, I do find they tend to toe the party line when it comes to the University. I thought it was important to have at least one more show there to even have the chance at differing opinions. Obviously Axe was strong and had his own take. Higgins was more moderated but at least every now and then he would disagree or think differently.

Having only one show and a show that is more likely than not to skew pro University makes for a terrible sports talk setup.

So did we end up with no idea what is happening here 3days out or so from when a show would normally air?

I lost all respect for Galaxy when they fired Axe for saying all the things fans were saying and thinking about the Boeheim demise. Galaxy is state-run radio, Moscow-Kremlin style. A poor journalism example for the Newhouse students who had Galaxy shows.
