RB Jawhar Jordan in the transfer portal

Oh I totally overhyped him. Guilty. I was the driver of the Jordan fan party bus.

I regret nothing.

Same here. It was pretty evident in that Louisville game last year that he had an element of speed that no one else on our team had.

But we should wait until we hear more about this before jumping to conclusions. We have someone on the board close to the family, maybe there's stuff she can share, maybe there isn't.

If his goal was RB1 and only RB1, and left because he was Wally Pipp'd, what do you do? If I recall, his recruitment was a long one, I'm sure the staff didn't just turn their backs after all of that because Tucker looked good.

I still think a kid who spent a covid year, injured, many many many miles from home, may have just wanted to go back there.

You mean when he was given the ball and slammed directly into a bad offensive line?

It wasn't a shining moment for our play calling.

I guess. We just disagree on how good he is no big deal. Plenty of kids can run fast, maybe he just didn't fit at Syracuse as a RB. Tucker breaks a lot of first tackles as I think Hough will too. I think Dino envisioned him breaking long runs off tackle with a much cleaner hole than what reality presents.

Wish him the best. Probably a spot waiting for him somewhere out West I am sure

If his heart's not in it, then go. I have had a weird feeling going back to the players refusing to practice etc. that the inmates are running the asylum to some degree, more than they should in any event. I hope we shake out anyone who's not all in.

I heard he doesn’t care for the cafeteria French fries

That might have been a "joke," but I'll bite. Zaire Franklin, middle linebacker, three-year captain, now playing for Indianapolis?
it was zaire frankin, my apologies

Anybody know who the other 3 are that are seeking transfer. Syracuse.com made mention of little used special team players that are also in looking to leave.

The other thing to keep in mind is how easy the NCAA has made it to transfer now. Looks like the passing of the instant eligibility will just be a formality.

So it can in essence be like testing the waters. Might be cases where coaches allow players back. They might have even discussed it with the coaches to get their name out there, see if there's interest, but that they would be welcomed back.

It's not like transferring back in the day, where you REALLY had to think about it first.

The portal was supposed to be between players and coaches only.

The media wasn't supposed to make every single portal entry public.

That hay is never getting put back into the barn.

He didn't show ANYTHING in 2020, I mean he was really bad. Sure the line did him no favors but Syracuse O Line seldom does
He was really bad? How many times he actually touch the ball in his 2 games and 1 quarter? What did he do that was so bad? I think his last touch was him taking a quick out and converting a 3rd down. The O line the first 2 weeks was pretty bad and the plays were very vanilla due to the unit not being able to work collectively throughout camp.

This^^^
Could never figure out why they kept going back to that well w/ JJ.
Fortunately we found our #1 RB, so if this is about Jordan not wanting to move to the slot, then it is what it is. Good luck to him.

That was the only Zaire I could think of, too. Get him back for a covid year!;)

The staff should utilize them ala Michael Carter and Javonte Williams at North Carolina who both ended up 1st team All-ACC (ahead of Etienne) this year and sell him on that.

I think people need to lower their expectations with Lutz. Keep in mind when he got his carries and what defensive schemes it was against. Its was against a lot of 5 and 6 man boxes. I did like what I saw from him but I am not expecting him to have this big jump in production. He's a great kid to have in the middle of your depth. Plus he could be a good situational guy.

I think the same can be said about lowering expectations/hype for Jordan.

Sucks to loose jj. He had a lot of potential.
I hope we don’t loose any other rb. My concern is that it seems like DB only wants to primarily run one back. Seen this for several years. RB 1 gets 90 percent of the carries. Toward the end of the season DB seemed to only give lutz garbage time unless tucker was hurt. Players on offense are not going to stay with limited playing time when they have shown to be productive. I do not see the same situation on D. Multiple rotations by white.

I agree but that applies to the people that are hyping them up. Not me.

The ceilings are obviously not the same, Jordan's is higher, but neither are the floors for them.

Lutz's floor is higher than Jordan's, IMO.

Sucks to lose him, but he's more of a project/unknown than people want to believe, just because he had one great game.

At least RB1 is not DB's son.

Is it possible that Gilbert & co. are going with taller guys at all receiver positions, and Jordan didn't gain as much weight as the staff wanted and isn't a good fit at RB in the scheme now?

I thought Jawhar was a 10-12 carries a game guy who would have got 3 or 4 passes thrown to him on swings, screens and outs. Lutz has less wiggle but he runs harder. You put Jordan in the game against those soft boxes Lutz got. What do you think he would have done with that?

They always seem to have power and a speed back in their offenses. This was Jawhar's decision. Not there's
