RB Jawhar Jordan in the transfer portal

Oh I totally overhyped him. Guilty. I was the driver of the Jordan fan party bus.

I regret nothing.
I wasn't has vocal as you, but I was right there with expectations. 10.4 speed is too much to not hype.

Sucks to loose jj. He had a lot of potential.
I hope we don’t loose any other rb. My concern is that it seems like DB only wants to primarily run one back. Seen this for several years. RB 1 gets 90 percent of the carries. Toward the end of the season DB seemed to only give lutz garbage time unless tucker was hurt. Players on offense are not going to stay with limited playing time when they have shown to be productive. I do not see the same situation on D. Multiple rotations by white.
When has one RB gotten 90% of the carries? Maybe in a few games, but their could be specific reasons for that.

We’ll be okay
We’ll be ok? We’re losing an athletic talent and coming off a 1-10 season. We don’t have the amount of talented athletes as every other ACC team.

I always wanted them to use him as Reggie Bush was used. 10-12 carries, screen passes, quick outs etc.

He has not given 1 RB 90% of the carries in any year that he has had more than one guy healthy all year, which is every year accept this one. Although, he has said he would like to have 1 stud guy that could carry the load.

This is also my recollection.

NO EXCUSES!!!

I thought Jawhar was a 10-12 carries a game guy who would have got 3 or 4 passes thrown to him on swings, screens and outs. Lutz has less wiggle but he runs harder. You put Jordan in the game against those soft boxes Lutz got. What do you think he would have done with that?
100% agreed Money he would have collected yards. Jordan could not make a blitz pickup though and our QB would have been creamed on a few plays as a result. I think it's fair to say that they both brought different strengths and weaknesses to the field.

Agree. Definitely wasnt his strength.

Pathetic that the coaching staff didn't move him back to WR exclusively as soon as it was clear Tucker was legit.

He hasn't been good enough to find himself a better landing spot than sticking around though. Hes not a P5 RB.

Our WRs are so bad and it keeps getting worse and worse. Was looking forward to him starting next year in the slot.

I’m disappointed. Still believe he is a playmaker, and we are woefully thin on playmakers at this time. That’s what is so odd. It’s not like the RB room got more crowded since he decided to come to SU. And I fail to see how a talented player would be scared off by another talented player. Makes me believe it’s a position issue. As others have suggested, if he really wants RB, coaches are trying to get him to move to slot. Still it would seem like he might have lots of touches from the slot, including handoffs now and then. Makes no sense to me. I hope he reconsiders.

He played 2 games and a few plays before he was injured. Maybe he wanted to play RB.

It wasn't clear Tucker was legit until after Jordan was out for the season. Jordan played barely more than two games and Pierre was the back up initially. Tucker was a true freshman that didn't have a summer on campus and the team had a screwed up preseason. Do you actually watch the games or do you just have a terrible memory?

They didn't move Jordan to WR when Tucker emerged because of the knee injury that knocked him out for the rest of the year.

And Jordan is transferring because he doesn't want to be a slot receiver.

Other than that, your post is 100% spot on.

Looking at the content of post #93, I wonder if it was even a football related decision.

Saw that. Not sure it answers much of anything. But maybe you’re right.

We're at our best when we use a 2-back system ala Smith/PTG or Carter/A. Bailey (recent successful combos). A platoon system with 2 serviceable backs that bring different skill sets to the table. Not a revelation as many teams do it on the regular.

The days of giving a back 30+ carries all season are over and they should be for multiple reasons, the biggest one being protecting the player from the increased odds of injury putting that beating on your body.

Being able to sell this to 4 legitimate RBs shouldn't be the task that it has seemingly become on the Hill. Hopefully, Tucker and Lutz are up to the task next season because if Dino thinks Tucker is going to be a bell cow in this day and age then he's not as smart as he portrays himself and could ruin the kids future.

The issue isnt that Dino ran with 1 back, the issue is we never ran it well enough to get enough carries at pace to get 2 guys going. when we ran 80-90 plays thats 40-50 carries when you only run 60 plays and are playing from behind the carries go down.

Jordan's performance this year said more about the offensive line. Jordan played what, 3 games? He's like 170 pounds and never saw a hole on his carries. It's easy to predict what will happen when the defense sees this. If he ever got through the logjam he would be a threat. That never happened and it wasn't his fault. To add insult to injury (pun unintended) the coaches never tried to get him in space, that I can recall, and that's when he is most dangerous. Others have said to move him around i.e. slot, etc. I agree with that. But minimally, how many screen passes did he get, misdirection plays, etc. Almost every play he carried was into the line with no hole. That's on the coaches. I wish him well and hope the coaches learn something from this.

Agree. Tucker is number 1 but the carries need to be distributed to the other backs. Otherwise tucker will get hurt which we already saw this year.

Some of the players had "Equality" on the back of their jerseys. Jordan should have had "Jet Sweep" on his. He was used beautifully in his true freshman debut and terribly in his RF mini-season.

Having a crappy offense results in less plays. I understand that.

However, if you look at the numbers for this year, he had 77% of the carries between the top 2 backs. His 138 to Lutz 41. And he was hurt in a 10 game season.

The carries need to be split up more than the above especially when you run more plays. Where are those carries gonna go? Better hope Lutz is ready (I think he is) and pray for no injuries or its gonna be a debacle.

Thats why losing any possible playmakers at skill positions hurts this team more than some like to admit.

We've gotten so used to blaming everything on the OL we often look past glaring issues at the skill positions.

I mean when you think about it...

Tucker made a clear case to be number 1.

lutz and Pena made a clear case to be number 2.

then don’t forget our Derrick Henry clone in Josh Hough..

I don’t see the playing time for Jordan at RB
Tucker has proved he is our number one guy. Everyone else is a coin toss and Josh Hough hasn’t played college football yet. Losing Jordan is a huge loss. Especially after showing what he was able to do in 2019 against Louisville. I hope he changes his mind and they utilize him in a better way next year.
