It wasn't directed any which way - just saying that there is no certain "way" to go about these recruiting battles. So, in my opinion, it's unfair to judge until the whole process runs its course. Over the last few years we have beat out a number of top-tier schools for prospects. Have we picked up a commitment from a Top 100 kid? No. But this staff has recruited other players with other offers before. Should they treat Robert differently than they do other top prospects they recruit? I don't know. I'm not the person making these types of decisions.
Am I saying I know for a fact all these guys on our staff have what it takes to seal the deal with high quality talent? I am not saying that at all. Do I have any inside information on any of these interactions? No, I don't. And it is clear that you do and I fully respect that. I guess I'm willing to give this group the benefit of the doubt a little bit in this area, because it's one of the few (along with defense) that they've proven they can adequately handle.
Using TCU is a terrible example. TCU is in the Top 25 because they had a boatload of money to invest into their program. TCU spent more on its program than any other school in Texas - including UT, Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas Tech. In fact, Alabama, Wisconsin, Auburn and Notre Dame are the only schools that spend more (

Syracuse has started to spend on its infrastructure. The new Indoor Practice Facility is a big step. I have no doubts that there are other upgrades to the Dome on the way in the future. And I also have no doubt that if Shafer & Co. do not prove that they can get the job done, money will be spent to find replacements that can.
