The part of this article that makes me feel confident is the fact that Coach Smith will be going down to visit RW on May 28th, over a month after Robert picks his school. I don't know where, but I thought I read somewhere that once he commits he is locked in so if we are visiting a month later I really like our chances.

The only thing is that date is still in the evaluation period where off campus face to face visits with the recruit are not allowed. I am not sure that changes once a kid commits. Roberts' father however is a coach on the team and Smith could meet with him.

Maybe we don't have to worry, because we were never really in it? - Debbie Downer

I like how in the comments of that article, there's some hater claiming that the offers are all fake, because this person is CLEARLY a member of this board considering in his comment he mentions me specifically by my name on here. I have a couple guesses as to who it is, and love what a coward that person is for hiding behind yet another fake name, taking shots at people and tearing down recruits.

EDIT: The comment has since been deleted. It's amazing that Syracuse.com is actually monitoring trolls.

EDIT 2: It's kind of hilarious that the person confirmed my suspicion on who he is in the comments. What a sad, angry little man.

Said Washington Sr.: "If he goes to Syracuse, I think he's got a good chance to get the Heisman and bring Syracuse back to the prominence it used to be."

Ok. Now I will burn couches if he commits and CL can't stop me.

can I trouble someone to link his most recent years video since it seems like we have a real shot at him and I'd prefer to not have to wade through 60 pages. Thanks in advance.

Let me preface this by saying I like Washington a lot. In fact, his build and running style remind me a lot of Maurice Jones-Drew. He is strong, has good feet, good balance, and is pretty tough to take down.

However, I think the forum needs to temper expectations a bit here. SouthLake Christian plays at a pretty low level of NC football. They got beat up pretty badly by the only large school they played. I have a couple of reservations about him being an impact player right away, and maybe some of those questions will be answered this season. The first I worry about is his speed. My guess is he is around a 4.7 - 4.8 kid right now. Mind you, that's a lot faster than a lot of you all think. Melvin Gordon ran a 4.55 at the combine AFTER being coached up on the 40 for weeks.

You can run a 4.8 if you are decisive and have a great first step. Right now he doesn't have to worry about that because his lower body is so stinking strong that kid literally bounce off of him. Which leads me to my second concern as to if he can adjust his style of play to a BCS level back. Some stronger kids have no problem doing that (DC3) while others can really struggle with that transition (AAM).

Understood. But if Saban wants him at Bama, I am ok with having him at SU.

Heights in basketball, and 40 times in football are the things you can never really take at face value when it comes to recruiting. If you're listed at 6-8 as a recruit, you're actually 6-6, so I always figure that when you self report a 4.4, you're probably a 4.6. That said - Robert has supposedly been laser timed at 4.47, but even so, football speed is different than straight line speed, and he's clearly got some good speed, based on his highlights.

I agree we should probably temper our expectations a little bit, mainly because we're setting the kid up for failure as a true freshman. I've thought all along that if he comes to SU, he'll probably get around 500 yards as a true freshman, and then get to 1000 as a sophomore. I do think he's good enough to make that kind of an impact.

Getting beat up by a larger school is more indicative of line play discrepancy more than anything else.

I wouldn't necessarily say that they play a low level of football. Because they are a Christian school they are relegated to play other Christian or Day schools and not public programs... no different than ECU where Isaiah Johnson came from. Plus this is the south, Christian and Day schools are everywhere. Doesn't mean their FB programs aren't as strong as the public ones.

He has run a 4.47 laser at 2 camps and has been hand timed at a college camp at 4.41 he has the speed

Preposterous ... I want the laser and the state trooper using it sent back in for recalibration.

Washington Sr., who repeated his message toward the Syracuse fans later in the interview, said that the Orange coaching staff has been in "constant communication" with both of the Washingtons. He views SU running backs coach DeAndre Smith "like my second brother."

Well would you have preferred that I said...

If Robert chooses to commit to another school and y'all start acting like a bunch of jackasses I will delete your freaking posts and lock this thread so fast it makes your heads spin.:)
Lock it now to stop "he's not coming here crap"
