Red’s Last Stand - Florida State Game

What's really tiresome is every thread turning into a "Fire Red" or a "Bench Starling" thread.

This one is parody, and parody is better...

Here's my thread contribution : Fire Red Autry for Not Benching JJ Starling! They both Suck!

That’s fine and all but did they actually do a national search to hire Autry? Pitino was available for gods sake.

Not saying anything profound here, but this is just so much better than last year. Last year at this point we were .500 and the season was literally over at the turn of the new year if not sooner. It was basically just going through the motions waiting for the year to be over.

We obviously have a lot of work to do to put together a tourney resume, but it feels so good to still be playing meaningful basketball right now.

Would that make this thread Level 5 parody?

A knight Templar of SU hoops….

Or maybe Red in a tank with fake muscles or flying a plane dropping orange crap emojis on FSU.. and other things of that nature..

Maybe even Red adding his name to the dome court…

I’ll see myself out.

But any of these may end up being true if we lose.
These threads are fun because Red really is living a life of extremes right now; one bad night against the ACC dregs could sink his ship and we may need to rely on an ACCT run to get into the big dance.

The flipside of this is that we could go on a serious run with the way Donnie has helped open up the offense. It's Schrodinger's Autry: I would be equally unsurprised by a win at Duke or a home loss to an FSU or BC. The halfcourt "sets" still leave a lot to be desired; it wasn't a coincidence that when Pitt gave us fewer chances in transition, the offense began circling the drain. The bizarre substitution patterns did not help either, but that's a topic for another post. Another poster mentioned that attacking Pitt right from the start in transition was excellent strategy... I would call it NECESSITY, given our halfcourt struggles.

If Red is retained, he NEEDS to hire a coach for the offense... and ideally someone who can provide him some mentorship. With his strong recruiting, he could really have something cooking if he gets another year and makes this hire. Right now, nobody in the basketball world thinks he's actually coming back.
