Women's Lacrosse Regy Thorpe named next WLAX Coach

Retaining Maggie and CDW, and currently working with HR and Compliance to add another staff member.

Listening now but nothing earth shattering. Lots of talk about winning a national championship. I’m in a wait and see mode overall. I really hope it works out this time.

Edit: staff is being retained and working on adding another coach to the staff.
I agree, I actually thought he sounded like a first time HC who wasn’t completely prepared for his first PC. His answers were definitely coach speak and I commend Axe for asking some good questions.

His answer about winning a NC was confusing. I know what he meant but to me it wasn’t powerful enough.

I know the kids love him, and hopefully that resonates. My first impression was that he’s a good guy who is proud to be back, but I didn’t get a vibe we were headed to a place we haven’t been. I hope I’m wrong.

Not entirely re staff. Chelsea Leveille will not be returning as Director of Operations.

When this happens, we need Bill Pullman to give another Independence Day speech.

How the House settlement affects WLAX:

“There’s a lot of great opportunity out here right now,” North Carolina women’s lacrosse coach Jenny Levy said. “If you’re at a place that's really supporting you, that’s awesome. But we also have to be aware of what’s happening to the people that aren’t getting supported, because that’s part of our strength in numbers.”

We know Clemson is all in. Boston College, Denver, Florida, North Carolina, Penn State and South Florida were schools mentioned by multiple coaches as aggressively increasing their support for women’s lacrosse in the wake of the new rules.

“Carolina is going to be very, very competitive in this new market,” Levy said. “I'm not worried about us. But I do worry about the sport. It doesn't help us if 50 percent of the ACC schools don't match that commitment.”

“One of the reasons I am at Penn State is that they're all in and they're going to fully support the women’s lacrosse program,” said Kayla Treanor, who recently left Syracuse to become the head coach in Happy Valley.

____________

As of today, Syracuse hasn't disclosed how many WLAX scholarships we plan on funding.

Penn State is also used to sweeping things under the rug, so good for them.
Womens lacrosse is a non revenue sport, if other colleges have the money to allot scholarships good for them.
I wouldn't be against disbanding WLax, I know Title 9... but I think it'd be awesome to send a ripple effect into the lax world by dropping the sport.

Yeah, that's why Kayla left to go there. It's reported elsewhere that PSU may have reduced the number of its mens lacrosse for the benefit of its football program

Or maybe that's a bad idea..

It clear that Clemson went all in at this point on lacrosse.
I feel the university will be competitive in lacrosse. I have a hard time believing Kayla left just because a lack of nil funding.

The point is that some schools are fully committed to 38 scholarships, and three of them are in the ACC.

Throw in PSU, Northwestern, Maryland, and maybe Florida, and where does that leave SU?
