Women's Lacrosse Regy Thorpe named next WLAX Coach

It clear that Clemson went all in at this point on lacrosse.
I feel the university will be competitive in lacrosse. I have a hard time believing Kayla left just because a lack of nil funding.
of course

The point is that some schools are fully committed to 38 scholarships, and three of them are in the ACC.

Throw in PSU, Northwestern, Maryland, and maybe Florida, and where does that leave SU?
Did I miss where the others besides Clemson said they were funding 38? Clemson doesn’t have men’s lacrosse and their spokesperson’s statement regarding women’s lax was carefully worded. God bless them if they fund 38 but they’re going to be the anomaly and I bet will cut that back when they realize nobody else is. Or they’re being cute and will never actually fund that many.

Agreed. I wonder how many private schools will match this. That is a huge price tag for a non revenue sport. Add that $20 million NIL payment and you can see how AD's are facing hard decisions. I feel for mens soccer at SU. Coach Ian is the best and I worry he will not have what he needs to compete.

Reminder that the first $2.5 million of additional scholarships reduces the $20.5 million of compensation that schools are allowed to give.

I believe Clemson is a public university.

Clemson is a public university. What is advantageous for them is that they do not field as many programs as schools like OSU, Michigan, Penn State, Maryland, etc. Therefore, their aid packages have been really strong to this point and allowed them to ramp up their numbers quickly. I am pretty familiar with their program and was told recently that they are not funding 38 scholarships.

Is there a cap on scholarships a school can issue? My daughter went to FSU tuition free so I'm not really sure of the exact cost, but I believe in state is around 12-15K. Does that mean FSU could load up on 5 Florida athletes for every 1 that goes to SU?
