We've talked endlessly about our national relevance and everything that comes with it. Recruiting, donors, fans, attendance, etc. our Athletic Director threw it out there last week how going into MetLife against ND being 3-0 was an opportunity. Well we're not 3-0, but, that's not my point.

Seeing big time marketing for the game on ESPN and ABC, that's relevance. Primetime slot for the game on a premier Network, that's relevance. Winning the game, that's relevance.

Would this game be in the same slot on the same channel in the Carrier Dome? I'd like to think so, but, I don't know.

Games like Saturday night are a tremendous opportunity against a marquee opponent. These are the opportunities that build our program. Showing up will get Syracuse spoken about by commentators on a National level/platform.

I'm sick of listening to local media and people talk about 41-14 losses and the like. It's a football game. Both teams have players 18-23 who suit up the same way. That being said, how those players are viewed for the next 3 months will hinge a lot upon Saturday night, for the next couple weeks anyway.

We've got a team that can compete. Analyze position by position all you want, but, Syracuse football is what it is and has what it has right now. At the very least it's a team that's capable of competing, and that's all that matters.

We're going into a primetime game with a chance to compete... Give me some more baby!

And I have a sneaking suspicion we won't be disappointed.

LGO!

I love it, but a loss, and everyone here will spend Sunday through Tuesday doing the same thing we did this past week… blasting everyone on the team and talking about how awful we are until we hit Wednesday again then it's like "oh I definitely think we will beat Louisville".

I choose to believe at all times, 11-1 baby!!!

Well said... Really hope we can steal one like this. ND is not FSU. They are very good but certainly beatable. We've certainly had our chances over the last several years to make a statement. Perhaps WVU three years ago was one that worked, but PSU last year, USC twice before that, etc., have come and gone. This would be huge for SU. We need to show up.

Regarding SU's relevance: The worst thing Greg Robinson did wasn't just lose all those football games, but make people forget we fairly recently had a very solid football program at Syracuse. Too many people think of us as a low-level power 5 program with a 7-8 win ceiling, which is disappointing. Despite the program being stabilized, we still have to deal with a perception problem that is a bit unfair.

This more than anything is why I want to win Saturday night.

A win on Saturday night in this type of game would really boost our national profile.

Duke wins 10 games last year, and people seem to forget how bad they are. Same with Baylor and Stanford, which another poster mentioned…. both were bad programs in the mid-2000s and became relevant recently. Play like some of those teams and the Greg Robinson years are COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN.

Syracuse football has been an irrelevant elephant for long enough . LeGO.

Actually a win against ND is only the first step to getting us back to national relevance but a win could earn us some national interest.
