The wishful thinking was that ND and Louisville were going to regress.
Nd is better than clemsonI was as disappointed as anyone after our pathetic season opening performance, but no way in hell am I counting any of these games (minus FSU and Clemson) as losses.
Nobody On The Schedule Is A Given Win Right Now.
CMU Now Looks To Be A Challenge.
And I Have No idea Whether It's Talent Or scheme
3. I hope we don't see any "Shafer has lost me" or "He's horrible and in over his head" posts when they come out of that stretch.
. Lol what a joke you are after one game... Freedom of speech on here but still LOL you must be a huge basketball fanGoSU96 said:SU had a good change to go 3-2 against ND, FSU, Lville, Wake and Clemson. 1. I hope people are realistic and stop thinking the ND and Lville were going to fall off because of changes. 2. I hope the team emerges healthy. 3. I hope we don't see any "Shafer has lost me" or "He's horrible and in over his head" posts when they come out of that stretch.

How are you so sure they won't? They were 12-1 last year, and their QB is not as good. Maybe at least see how they do at UVA.
No one thought ND was going to regress when they got Gholston back. But when the suspensions hit people hoped it would weaken their defense, which tends to happen when 4 D starters are suspended in the preseason.
Thus whole thread is strangest I told you so I've seen in quite some time.
Why don't we just play the next two games and see what we have? Nova just wiped out Fordham 50-6. They ran 80 plays and racked up 514 yards while holding Fordham to 219 total yards. Nova is pretty good.
When we look around many P5 teams had trouble non P5 opponents. We are the only team that had their starting QB ejected.
Just reminds us how bumpy the start of each season can be.
damn it would be better if Marrone was the coachThose suspensions have nothing to do with it.
There's no told you so. The fact is that this is a hard schedule and there was a lot of it's not that hard, 8 wins should be expected, we should go .500 against those four, blah, blah, blah.

Nd is probably better than fsu alsoNd is better than clemson
Well, I think it did. I understand you made other points with respect to ND etc but the opening line of "Remember when..." implied that we are not as good as people thought we were before the season started. My post was responding to both points about team quality - them as well as us- it is too early to tell. Sorry, if you took offense. The original post had nothing to do with how good or not good SU is.
There are unrealistic expectations ( go 4-1 or 5-0 ) then there is setting the bar too low ( 1-4 ) something in between should be the hope. Too early to tell just how good we are, ND looks good but i have never watched a Michigan team look so inept since DMac ripped them apart. Louisville beat a what seems to be annuaully overrrated Miami. Too early to tell. Even FSU does not seem to be the force they were last year. ( though I'm not expecting a win in that one )If they win 1 of those games four games it will be a great job. I hope they aren't so down going into Wake that that one gets away.
Who the heck said we were going 3-2?
I just hope we can beat Central Michigan.
Nd is probably better than fsu also
We can probably rehire him in time for the stretch rundamn it would be better if Marrone was the coach
