I now regret not saying 12-0.

We've had about 7,000 threads regarding this year's schedule and results. The reasonable people in those threads saw this season as 3 losses before we ever took the field.

Louisville was probably thrown in the swing game group more than anything else.

I'm not sure how "meaningless" the prediction threads are in the sense that it seems to spawn a lot of "I'm a better fan than you cuz I think we are going to win at least X number of games" ridiculousness.

Screw you guys! Your all offside. Seriously, saying 1-4 is us getting some breaks is just complete nonsense. YOU REALLY think we need some breaks to beat wake Forest? Signs of a Basketball only. Ville, ND, Wake, and yes even Clemson we can win.

Come on. Fix the scheme and we are good.

Gratuitous self plug here...I won the hoop Tourny pool one year and every year I bring it up...and NONE of the other winners EVER have.

Either the other winners never give a shlit about march madness or my theory is that we get a whole bunch of trolls and/or lurkers who sign up, 1 wins it...and vanishes into neverneverland with the satisfaction of pounding a bunch of fools who thought Harris was going to the nba right back into submission.

But yeah, god forbid you pick a loss for the football team, a ton will jump all over you. I picked a 4-8 in like June and boy did that spark about 4 pages of insults directed at me.

Traffic up, mission accomplished...

Your defeatist attitude is refreshing. Nothing like a pre-emptive i told you so...you win the internets. :rolleyes: Also, the premise of the thread and the numbers that follow are not mutually exclusive.
 
Remember this thread at the end of the season, about who jumped ship after 1 game. As fans we can be upset about the bad 1st game performance, but this thread is over the top. How many teams had to play most of the 1st game without their most important player?

About where I'm at...next week (CMU) will tell us a lot. we win and a bowl is still likely IMHO. We lose, watch out.
 
I think we will be a completely different team by October.
  1. We are 1-0 after playing lousy against a team that was better than we thought.
  2. We will beat CMU
  3. We will beat MD
  4. We will beat Wake
  5. We will beat NC State
  6. We will beat BC
I think we will win 2 of the others - probably Pitt and Duke.
ND is better than I thought they would be but I don't know that UL and Clemson really are yet.
We'll have to wait until 2015 when JW goes to the NFL or jail before we can beat FSU.
That is all.
 
no sure things one way or another going forward with the obvious exceptions of FSU and Clemson. Regardless of outcome I'm going to be looking for how the team looks, effort given, are they ready to compete, appropriate game plans, some adjusting along the way, etc. Those things are well as W and L's will help determine where my heads at re the staff and team. CMU will tell us a lot.

Very reasonable. Completely agree.

I think that Shafer needs to be cut some slack this year.

Huh? Why do you think Shafer needs to be cut slack? Why shouldn't the expectation be higher than last year?
 
I was out at a bar last night and overheard some guy saying that he regretted buying his ND tickets early cause now SU was certain to get crushed... I'm really sick of this fair weather attitude in this town. If you go to a game you should be going because you enjoy going and not because you expect to win. I have great seats for my season tix and could easily sell my FSU tickets on the secondary market for what I pay for the whole season. That will never happen. Even though I expect us to get rolled I enjoy the people I go to the games with and if some miracle happens and SU wins, I'll be able to say I was there...just like for Louisville and WVU for their last trips to the Dome as ranked teams. Unfortunately, threads like this and general comments I hear make me think I'm in a very small minority...

Our offense that mcd installed isnt good. Therefore, were going to struggle to win. I hope im wrong but i dont think so.

On another note, is mcd getting help in the box this year?

it's so much more work to capitalize every word. i'm the opposite, i can't be bothered with shift. normal sounding posts start to read like the worst headlines off of bleacher report

I am truly amazed that folks on this board can spend time worrying about letter capitalization.

I gather you missed the explanation I gave months ago.

So here goes.

For some reason when I post using my cell phone the first letter of each word capitalizes.

I've tried to stop it, but that's the way it prints.

Sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it.
