Reno Ferri is new TEs coach

Asil is from NJ. Might have some connections to help the coaches get in touch with HS coaches.
hope so--rutgers just hired the head coach from passaic high school for the same position---he has been a coach in nj for the past two decades per the article.

Yep, forgot about him. Thats true. Also believe what PhatOrange said about other territories being as good, and the "system," helping the sales pitch. Thank god for such a system, that is different than every other boring NE football school. Whether it works or not, at least we are trying!

Ash just met with all of the top coaches in New Jersey. But the days of us having a stronghold in Jersey are over. Pasqualoni and DeLeone used to know the names of just about every coach in Jersey. That will never happen again.

Cardinal Mooney HS.

Here is a story on how Reno got starting coaching college football. It was just by happenstance.

Sounds like a really interesting guy. Still has a lot of love for Army.

Linkage

Same HS as our recruit Andrew Armstrong who is taking an official this weekend. Can't hurt.

P & D's last FOUR recruiting classes from NJ:

JJ Bedle
Paul Chiara
Ricky Krautman

Must be Schiano gave out better Christmas gifts.

We have guys down in NJ this week.

It’s obviously good to have pre-existing relationships but a good salesman (err I mean recruiter) should be able to sell no matter what. The Syracuse offensive coaches can walk into any high school anywhere with a binder full of offensive statistics generated by Millhouse and say “hey our QBs have thrown for 4,000 yards a season and our WR’s have caught X number of balls etc.”. The proof is in their numbers. These guys have an advantage as they’re not selling the same thing that everybody else selling.

That said, Jersey imho is over-saturated and over-rated. A kid from the Detroit area is every bit as good or better than a kid from NJ. Heck, Alabama’s 10 star NJ cornerback just got owned by a walkon. ;)

Clearly with the almost hiring of Beatty and the now hiring of Reno, Coach Babers has eyes on the MD,DC, VA, South NJ/PA area. A guy who’s been working Towson for 3 years should know NJ coaches by now.
agree with all u said except nj is overated

I think you forgot Johnny Morant.

And several others.

Rutgers has to do that because the entire country pilfers NJ. and it's not going to change.

Not from 2002-2005. Right when Shady took over.

Yeah, things started to change...our facilities were outdated and Schiano built a wall. Ha!

The good news is there are plenty of Jersey guys that want to get out of Jersey to experience something different...I know getting your gas pumped for you is awesome but life does exist away from I-95.

Indeed. There's the Garden State Parkway AND 287! :p

Just remember how the toll bridges are set up:
They'll let you go to Jersey for FREE, but you must PAY to get out of there. ;)

and there is a reason the country pilfers nj

I have a former coworker who played football for Towson. Couldn't speak more highly of Reno as a coach, and he wasn't even his position coach. Obviously very disciplined as a military guy in practices, and the players love him.

I'm excited to see what he brings to the table.
