REPORT: BE to Add Five Teams By Week's End...

You forgot Baylor and RGIII.

Southlake Carroll and Allen high school football here gets more coverage and fans than SMU
That's becaue SouthLake has a better football team. Go Dragons!!!

No offense, but you are way overestimating their pull. It took TCU over 10 years of winning consistently before anyone really cared. SMU has probably lost June Jones to Arizona State, and the only time they were relevant was when they were cheating. Houston had a brief moment of success back in the SWC under Pardee, but they were still behind A&M, UT, the Oilers , the Astros and the Rockets. No one in Dallas cares about SMU either. It's a pro town first and foremost with the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and Stars. Then the college news is always dominated by A&M & UT. I've been down here over 20 years now. I don't see things changing anytime soon.

Oh well, so much for June Jones.

I wonder how welcome he'll be back in the SMU Varsity Club Room.

So the net effect of the BCS and TV contracts was to invite more people into the "haves" tent. In the process we can see which conferences are in charge. In order of importance, from strongest to weakest:

Tier 1: SEC, Big 10
Tier 2: Pac 12, ACC
Tier 3: Big 12
Tier 4: Big East
Tier 4a: C-USA, MWC

Louisville has to be feeling like Kroger being introduced to Sidney and Jugdish right about now.

PA, they still won't draw interest. They don't come close to selling out Ford Stadium unless they play a big name school with alum in the area. The student body is apathetic. And TCU doesn't sell out either. Being in the BE won't change that. The news is being greeted with mostly apathy. If SMU got into the Big 12 it might be different. But the Big East, not so much. You are overestimating their potential.

Pac 12 is tier one, without any question.

Move Big 12 up to tier 2, and then have no tier 3, because the gulf is that wide down to the New New Big East.

Fixed.
