Usually you learn this type of lesson when you are much younger. By the time you are 58, you should know this lesson. I am sorry. There is no excuse. He is in charge of teaching and setting an example to young men and also young women at Gonzaga. I have zero tolerance for someone his age not knowing the difference. I pretty much have zero tolerance for any adult. This is why my kids could call me (and believe me they did) at 3am to come pick them up. Lessons learned even before they were of drinking age. I actually had one policeman come to my car window accompanied by my son his freshman year of college at 2am to commend me as a parent for teaching my son to call me and not get into someone's car (after they broke up a party and most of the kids took off).
Yeah I had to pretty much give a pass to activities leading up to the call, as long as I got the call.Usually you learn this type of lesson when you are much younger. Of course he shouldn’t be drinking and driving and I also hate the fact he did it, but I hope you also have zero tolerance for texting and driving.Usually you learn this type of lesson when you are much younger. I can never understand how someone making millions of dollars can't hire a driver or call an uber.
Between Ubers and eventually self driving cars, it is going to make the roads much safer.Usually you learn this type of lesson when you are much younger. I do. Easy to pull over if it is important enough that it can not wait.Of course he shouldn’t be drinking and driving and I also hate the fact he did it, but I hope you also have zero tolerance for texting and driving.
Six times more likely to cause an accident if you are texting and driving compared to DUI.
I can’t believe we still don’t crack down on texting like we do on drinking.
As JustPherU said, driving while texting can be as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. Most of us have probably done both at one time or another.Between Ubers and eventually self driving cars, it is going to make the roads much safer. ...
Best story is when David Cassidy of Partridge Family got stopped outside of Albany a few years back. The cop's name was Tom Jones and Cassidy asked him What's Up, Pussycat? a reference to the hit song from Tom Jones, the singer. Cassidy only blew a .10 but must have been feeling his oats.Officer: "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Driver: "Few."
Officer: "Bro, you are so busted. That's the question I asked you two minutes ago. Show me your license and registration."
Well put, thank you."On average, a drunk driver will drive 80 times under the influence before their first arrest. Every 51 minutes in America, someone is killed in a drunk driving crash." - dosomething.org
Unfortunately, the only poster above who I believe recognized the true downside was T-Bone. When I was drinking (1970s to 1980s), this was prior to MADD and major drunk driving legislation, I often drove drunk. I joined AA after not knowing how I got home. I felt it important to go check my car to make sure I didn't kill anybody (I didn't). Many new members of AA over the years have told their stories as, "I was never caught, I was lucky." Actually, the people they missed while driving were the lucky ones.
With legislation and social pressure today, if you are driving drunk, you're either stupid or an alcoholic. Either way you need to get help right away.
Few is only lucky in that he has that opportunity before he kills somebody.
Most people have done this at least once and gotten away with it ..doesn’t make it right .. but makes it harder to be all judgemental about itToo bad. He seemed like a solid guy. But his blood alcohol content was measured at .120 at 8 p.m. - way over the legal limit of .08. So he was extremely drunk at a relatively early hour.
Slunk jeep ..Have to believe Mark Few made such a bad decision because he's suffering from junk sleep.
It's America's other pandemic.
I don’t drink … never have .. so I don’t know .. but to me from the outside looking in.. it’s almost more perplexing that someone who is slightly intoxicated would drink and drive (because their judgement wouldn’t be too impaired to make the smart decision) while the plastered person is too far gone to even know not to drive.12 is not extremely drunk. It is considerably over the legal limit for driving. They are not the same thing. There are lots of people out there who could be at .12 and you wouldn't have a clue.
