Reuter and Shayok transferring from Virginia

Shayok would be unbelievable in our zone. But not sure 1 to play 1 would be worth it? Maybe he can become a grad transfer if he has enough credits?

Pretty surprising. The kid was fantastic against UNC Wilmington in the first round last week. He's got a lot of physical gifts and IMO he's a kid who could easily put up better scoring numbers in the right system. Might not be satisfied with how Bennett uses him on offense?

Is either one a senior? So both would have to sit out a year. I also wonder if UVA could block a transfer to an in conference school like Miami blocked Gus Edwards from coming here.

From what I hear, Shayok will be graduating this year and should be eligible for a grad transfer. If that is true, then the transfer makes a ton more sense.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. If you think about it, summer school for three years should get you graduated in three if you're a smart kid. But all accounts, most UVa kids are.

Here's hoping we put an offer out there. Could be a three man in our system, and move to the 2 if Battle has the ability to play the 1 a little bit.

Shayok is from Ottawa so this is the closest to home he can be and play in a power conference.

I do hope this new team can make even more in roads in the Toronto market. It's one of the most prosperous markets for recruits the past 5 years and we are probably the closest P5 program (alongside Michigan) to the GTA.

Damn, Shayock looked great at the end of the year. He wouldn't even have to change his school colors - we just mix up the Orange a blue a little differently is all.

He looked great against UNCW. Didn't look great in other games. That's what you get with him. Wildly inconsistent. Definitely tough to lose that kind of experience though.

Doesn't ACC have a rule prohibiting transfers within conference? We got Mike G because technically we were still in Big East.

Most conferences have that rule.

Also potential of another UVa rotation player, Darius Thompson, transferring.
He's reportedly exploring that option ... Thompson began his career at a Vol before moving to UVa.

Thompson would likely be a grad transfer after sitting out a year already.

Its sort of weird though as both Shayok and Thompson would have big roles next season at UVA. Are they going to transfer to non P5 schools to be the star players? Does UVA have big time recruits coming in who will take their PT? Are they worried about Guy and the other freshman Guard they had this year taking all their PT?

In addition to Guy and Jerome, don't forget we also redshirted two top 60 players (Jay Huff and DeAndre Hunter) this past year. Bennett sits down with each player after the year is over to talk about their roles heading into next year. Would not surprise me if Shayok and Thompson are hearing things they don't like. They were our two least efficient scorers from this past year. It's obviously never a good thing when players transfer out but sounds like they wouldn't get a ton of PT next year anyways. It could be an issue in the short term but hopefully it works out for all parties in the long run.
