How Many Times Will We Punch Rhode Island In The Face

We will destroy RI. It might take a quarter to get our sea legs but then it will be all over. My hope is that we have a chance to play a ton of kids and keep things plain jane

As long as we don't burn any redshirts.

When our hoops team played a team like Colgate or Keenesaw State, was there some need to talk smack? The expectation was that we would win; anything less would have been unacceptable. There was no need to woof about how badly we were going to destroy them. Is that what our football program has been reduced to? Bragging about how we are going to beat-up an undersized, out-manned FCS team?

I remember when people complained that the URI game in 2002 was too close, which was a 63-17 final, 42-17 at half time.

It wasn't a dominating enough win.

Cautionary note, even if it's a blow out, it is in no way an indicator on how the rest of the season is going to go.

Destroying them won't be an indicator of how the rest of the season will go.

But a close game probably will be.

I doubt it will be close though. Even Villanova vs URI last year was a Drago vs Apollo affair.

Better win the following week, that's the game that could make or break the season.

Remember when the team thought, and played like, they would throttle Villanova last year?

They are about as far from Villanova as you can get.

I'm pretty sure the thread was a joke? You introduced the term "smack talk" and people responded. I'd be willing to bet that when the bball team is playing some no name team, that there are threads saying we are going to blow them out of the water with predicted scores etc.

When I first saw it, I took it as we don't want a THunt 2.0, but to each their own interpretation. Even if it was meant to be smack talk, can't we have a little fun once and while? :noidea:

Let you hair down! Have fun. It's all in good jest.

You're probably right. I guess it was meant to be playful and not serious.

Hate threads like this. We rarely throttle the team like these threads expect.

Luckily there will be at least 3 - 4 of these threads every week for the next month.

No fun allowed?

No defensive linemen over 275lbs. 275, 270 265 260...4 DTs. Think we could tire them out by half time.
Villanova didn't have any D lineman bigger than this and SU couldn't move them. Sorry, the jury is out on the OL until they prove otherwise.

That's rich. Revisionist. We moved them and the ball enough to win. Our starting QB made a mistake and his replacement didn't do enough. Things that grow over time include Villanova's "dominance"...

I don't think anyone is saying Nova was the second coming of Ohio State last year but he's correct in that our offensive line couldn't move their undersized D line regardless of who was at QB or did you forget the need for a fake FG because we couldn't pound it in from the one with multiple chances. When your playing a 1AA team your O line should be able to allow a decent run game even if myself or cusetroop is taking snaps.
