Here's the problem I have with ra-ra blind optimism.
Blind Optimism leads to unrealistic expectations which can lead to unwarranted disappointment which leads to anger in the staff which leads to OMG Shafer needs to be fired!!!!!
Did last year suck? Sure did. Does it warrant calls for Shafer's head? Only if you somehow talked yourself into believing we are OSU and can win a NC with a 3rd string QB. See I don't believe that, I know that OSU's 3rd string QB is better than most of our starting QB's over the past decade. I know that SU doesn't win with QBs who will transfer to FCS schools at the end of the season, I know that we don't win games with true frosh QBs playing behind a decimated OL with a fired OC midseason. Those calling for Shafers head probably had way too much blind optimism. Those of us grounded in the reality of last year simply drank more beer, wished for the best, but expected the worst. And when the season was finally over, instead of blowing our lids, we simply marked the date for Spring Game in our calendars and got ready for this year. See you can be a realist, still hope for the best, and not be a Troll. Took me a few years to figure out the right mix but I think I've got it now. Go Cuse! 0-0! Still Undefeated!!
