Rick Pitino

When free agency hit the NBA in 1998 (only 1 year after he was hired at Boston) just as it did in the NFL 5 years preceding, it changed the entire professional sporting paradigm. So, now with the "inmates running the asylum" or as that saying goes, Pitino's style didn't have a chance. No different than the Paul Brown's, George Halas', Vince Lombardi's, etc., etc. of the world would've ever achieved the same successes in the modern (free agency) world of pro football.
That was part of it. He was also just a bad NBA coach and GM in Boston. He traded Chauncey Billups halfway into his rookie year for a clearly fading Kenny Anderson. He cut Rick Fox. He made bad transaction after bad transaction.

And as soon as he resigned (by fax! and then he snuck out of town!) Jim O’Brien had them in the playoffs.

I mean the friggin’ guy pushed Red Auerbach out of a ceremonial front office job because he just had to have the President title. He’s such a horse’s behind.

Free agency in NBA began in the 80s. Should have come to no surprise for Pitino. The rest is very much true.

You’re all so jealous and bitter. I wish Ricky was here and we were winning instead of sucking and trying to make ourselves feel better by dissing others.
