Rickie Collins

Again I didn't say he'd be the starter for Duke. I said I wouldn't be shocked if he eventually took over. I think next week you may see why Collins was the backup
He just needs more reps—people keep forgetting he’s only thrown 12 passes in his three-year college career. It feels like you just want Carney in there and aren’t giving Rickie a fair chance. I just don’t understand why.

You'll be able to figure out pretty quickly who has good connections on this board. Usually a claim like Jeremy's is not made lightly here.
Ok, but again, having a bigger arm doesn’t automatically make you the better quarterback. Look at Steve—he doesn’t have the same arm strength as Rickie, but he’s proven himself as the better QB. What I don’t get is why you guys are so against Rickie. He hasn’t had much playing time in his three years, so of course he’s still raw. With more reps and experience, he’s only going to improve and should keep getting better as the season goes on.

tough spot to come into. road game against a tough desperate opponent. took care of the ball. ate clock.
exactly what we needed. he'll be getting starter reps and know exactly what's expected next game.

Ricky's gonna get a long look to and obviously a long first crack at the job. I hope he runs with it but again there's some flaws there which I worry about and why the staff went and got Angeli. Hopefully we don't need Carney but I think he's in play at some point.

I hope Ricky takes the job and runs with it but he's not at LSU and lost out to Angeli here for a reason. Carney can sling it has a much bigger arm and SU wants to throw a lot. It's not a big leap.
Are you saying carney much bigger arm than angeli or Collins? I didn’t know carney had a “big arm”. I just knew he was really accurate. That’s good to hear nonetheless

Hopefully the missed throws were lack of timing and the pressure of not blowing a big lead in Death Valley. A week of practice should get him on the right page.

Heard he's looked good slinging it around and has one of the bigger arms of the qb roster. Maybe the info is wrong but he is the third qb. Again I hope Ricky takes the job and kills it.

Absolutely, thanks for the clarification Jeremy

Hoping playing against Duke and not a powerhouse will allow chances for Collins to build confidence quickly. Coaches need to prepare him, calm him, and give him some basic easy passes to start. Throwing to Villari would be good.
Duke gives up a lot of points, and we're at home. We'll need to play well but this is about as good a circumstance on the schedule to hand the ball over to Collins to right from kickoff.

I won't be shocked if Carney sees some snaps.

Do you all not think that the coach who did that onside kick in the 1st Q does not have his QB race open each week? If he really sees something that will work better, than he will make a switch. For now it is Collins, but if he sees something in Carney, he will not hesitate to make the switch. But you have to give Collins the chance to work with the first string in practice and do everything to bring him up to speed. After all, the race was between Angeli and Collins, not Angeli and Carney for a reason.

I’d guess we start to see a much different offense. Heavier on the run, more RPO, getting Rickie in space and more 1 read looks
I completely agree with this. I suspect RPO, roll him out and shorter passes.
I do hope his accuracy issue was because being thrown in. Two of his passes could have been picked but great effort by our wr turning into DBs.
The only concern about the RPO is I know it affected our run game last year.

How do you know he’s not ready? I’d rather have a baller than go with the safe choice because he’s older. I hope it works out too but we may need Carney
Rickie has a super high ceiling? I just don’t understand why everyone is so against Rickie 😂😂😂 .
