So fans want big time football at Syracuse but are going to get all bent out of shape about booing? Given the lack of success this program has had in the last 25 years Im happy folks still care. Same for some fans accepting some kind of write off for the season just because Angeli went down. With the NIL money being spent and the salaries the staff is drawing there needs to continue to be accountability and pushing for improvement, no writing off of seasons half way through.

For where the program is we have a pretty solid fan base, but that 'aw shucks, well what can you do...' is such a soft loser mentality that is completely incompatible with P4 football, the vision of the program, and the money being spent.

I agree that we don't have the investors - so I guess it comes down to what are we doing investing at all in the crazy world of sports? It is not going to get cheaper - but that is a conversation for another day.

PITT replaced their high priced NIL QB with a true Frosh who was pedestrian at best Saturday night. Yet they haven't fallen apart because of their scheme and ability to have the talent around the young QB ease his burden. That is the coaches job especially in the modern NIL world. In my opinion we appear to be failing at that.

I think this might be what’s driving the Ricky Collins qb1 crap. I’m speculating that Fran stuck his neck out to bring Collins in and doesn’t want to admit he was wrong the the check writers. We all thought originally he was a high priced backup, now we know he should be a high priced bench warmer

And the rollout that he finally threw short to Nixon for a first down, he was looking up the field for an open player but had to get rid of the ball and he did for a first down.
Rickie would have taken a sack or threw an interception.

The rest of the season includes three games against teams that are currently ranked in the top 12 in the country, plus UNC and BC. Pretty unlikely there is going to be a bowl game this year. Shockingly, a year without rumors to the Fenway or Pinstripe Bowl.
They're hopefully going to salvage what they can...maybe iron out some coaching boneheaded moves...hopefully keep the players working hard.
And it's going to be Rickie as QB1 the rest of the way.

As a dude who sees the QBs' facial expressions when they're reviewing tape, "he gets paid so I can boo" doesn't just lack empathy it lacks context.

We're there because we're fans. We're the 12th man and support our team. We scream like lunatics to mess with the other teams' offense, and for "medium" sized crowd are pretty darn successful with it.

And then we watch Rickie--who is often regarded as having issues developing confidence--and when he fails to make a play, we publicly and dramatically work to lower his confidence further? I think Rickie is in over his head as much as anybody, but booing him is bullshit and Pitt should thank us for doing so.

No, Fran said they did not practice long third down throws with Carney. He had limited first team practice reps because Collins was going to start and needed them. Carney also threw two short passes into traffic, so trust was there.

I am still in the camp that Rickie, sadly, gives us the best chance of winning... but how can you say the kid does not have the "it" factor. He looked very composed. Even on that terrible snap, he remained focused. I think when they say he cannot run the entire offense, they mean that they do not trust him on the deeper passes. So we would be limited to runs and a short passing game. At the same time, Rickie can hit the deep passes... but they are rarely completed, intercepted equally as much, and frequently incomplete anyway.

A lot of us would struggle under that kind of pressure--both on the field and between the ears. I could see him transfer to Georgia Southern or somewhere similar and be a very dynamic player with his legs and arm. I just wish Nixon would take advantage of his legs/athleticism, but its pretty clear they are trying to force him to fit our system.

Even more so... him on a team with a clear #1 WR to try to force the ball to, like the kid from UConn. 30 passes, with 15 of them intended for Skyler Bell. That way, progressions do not mean as much. In contrast, with our system and depth/quantity of receivers, we benefit most when we are getting all of them the ball to keep defenses guessing (and keep them all happy).

Reality? All of these folks, adult-athletes, etc. have to be literally pinching themselves in the dream the collegiate revenue sport(s) have become nowadays for them.

Imagine, being in the business world (which what this now so definitively is) where an entity and/or one runs a multi-multi million dollar business, where you get your customers (whom are already paying for your product) to also pay (directly) a part of your overhead to boot. Providing salaries, bonuses, and the like, and, even better, you the owner get to keep 100% of the profits! What a world!

I continue to remain completely dumbfounded on this existing model where there's this type of success. Yet somehow, someway, so many voluntarily allowing themselves to be herded like sheep to such a place. Truly amazing!

It is coaching malpractice to not have a QB#2 that can run a 3rd and 9 play? I could see if we did not have a 3rd and 19 play for him. But given that two dropped passes is a 3rd and 10, I think we need a QB#2 that can run at least ONE play in that situation. What if Collins get hurt?????

That is not a good statement, Rickie had first team reps for at least 3 weeks not counting last week and you were coming off a bye week. If he didn't have the offense down, the 4th week wasn't going to help.
And that showed on the field. They should have given Luke 2/3 of the reps last week to get him ready.
