Doubt that.He is going to get more run that has been decided. How much he gets will depend on his ability to run more of the offense and the team we are playing. I expect him to see the field against GT and play more against NC.

I’m sorry. Isn’t Luke Carney the second string QB? Why is he not prepared for all aspects if the offense?? He IS one play away from being the starting QB. I’m amazed at the answers people Will accept from coaches.Wrong again. They haven’t fully prepared Carney fully to run the offense. That’s the driving factor that led them to put Collins back in. It would be coaching malpractice to have him run specific plays for the first time in a game. It’s a perhaps subtle, but distinct difference regarding the trust factor.
“The call sheet that we had set for him wasn’t really meant for 3rd-and-9,” Brown said.
Brown was then asked how much of the offense Carney can run right now.
“Not much,” he said. “We’re in the developmental point of it when it comes to the young quarterbacks and the things of that nature. There’s a lot that we’re trying to do and trying to get rolling, and we’ll get it back. It’ll work. it takes time.”

Rickie Collins’s struggles cause uncertainty at quarterback for Syracuse: ‘He wasn’t ready yet’
Luke Carney replaced Rickie Collins in the third quarter as Syracuse continued to look for answers on offense.www.syracuse.com
Rickie reminds me of Lindsay Scott. Got a last minute LSU offer(Louisiana kid like Rickie) and had to drop down a level to see success. Nothing wrong with that, some kids aren't able to play at this level.
Ask any of the dozens of SEC and B1G QBs who have been booed mercilessly over the years. Hell, he can text McCord since that happened at OSU.I wonder how Rickie felt when he was being booed? That was crazy.
The staff also said the two QBs were neck and neck in the summer.Axe asked Fran how much of the offense Carney knows. “Not much” Fran said. Axe said he appreciated Fran’s honesty. To me the take away isn’t how honest Fran is. It’s why does your back up QB not know a lot of the playbook!!
Two weeks ago Axe also said he asked Nixon how ready was Carney to play and Nixon replied he was good to go. Said he had a good grasp of the playbook. It’s all there on his podcast.
It was the same nonsense in 1999 where a coach is obviously being booed for weird QB rotationsWasn't he only booed when he came in after Carney? In which case is that not more on the decision to put him in than actually him? How exactly does one boo Fran for that move otherwise?
who knows what the dynamic on the team is with one guy having so much more money undeservedlyI think this might be what’s driving the Ricky Collins qb1 crap. I’m speculating that Fran stuck his neck out to bring Collins in and doesn’t want to admit he was wrong the the check writers. We all thought originally he was a high priced backup, now we know he should be a high priced bench warmer
I must have been more intoxicated than expected because I don’t even remember seeing Carney. I wonder if I went to the bathroom during that series.I swear, I have no idea what some other people were watching.
Hell, he can text McCord since that happened at OSU.
The problem is Ricky has been in college three years. He has been in P4 programs three years. He sees the speed of the game in practice all the time. I know it’s a little different but he is playing against elite players in practice. I do remember hearing in spring he was interception prone. Maybe a reason they went and got Angeli. Continues now he is a starter. My son's HS team played a Top 20 team in state last Friday. I ask him how their film looked Wednesday before the game. He says, "Dad, they play much faster than us."
What do I say? Telling him "Go faster" only invites mental mistakes. Instead, I went with "Trust yourself. Don't be too cautious," knowing the only way to adjust is to experience "they play faster."
I'd give Rickie the same advice. If processing game speed is the issue, I get why he's still out there. How do you help a player adjust to a faster game other than experiencing it?
I admit this is all tough to watch now. He's not been good. But I also believe Rickie can get better. It'll be a lot easier for us if Rickie can be a solid #2 next year vs. finding a backup in the spring ball portal.
umm...wut?Reality? All of these folks, adult-athletes, etc. have to be literally pinching themselves in the dream the collegiate revenue sport(s) have become nowadays for them.
Imagine, being in the business world (which what this now so definitively is) where an entity and/or one runs a multi-multi million dollar business, where you get your customers (whom are already paying for your product) to also pay (directly) a part of your overhead to boot. Providing salaries, bonuses, and the like, and, even better, you the owner get to keep 100% of the profits! What a world!
I continue to remain completely dumbfounded on this existing model where there's this type of success. Yet somehow, someway, so many voluntarily allowing themselves to be herded like sheep to such a place. Truly amazing!
umm...wut?
My point that you clearly missed is
Reality =
1. We aren't the only ones spending money. Probably spending less than many others.
therefore
2. It doesn't provide us an advantage in any way.
therefore
3. No advantage = no expectations of extra wins.
I think it's because the games usually stink![]()
Why are we surprised Rickie Collins isn’t ready? The signs were there if we looked instead of listened | Carlson
It's no surprise that Rickie Collins isn't ready to be Syracuse's quarterback. We should have seen the signs.www.syracuse.com
.com working that gaslighting HARD.
Of course Angeli was brought in because Collins was bad, how could you not know that!? Didnt you see Pena Leave (who their own staff writers claimed was only a money motivated move on the radio)
Then they claim that Fran has proven he can judge QB talent because he brought in McCord, a former 5 star off of an 11-1 season who was pushed out, not because he was BAD but because he wasn't all world? like what?
Then he told McCord to leave because he thought he found his future player in Rickie Collins? The player we were all supposed to know wasnt good enough??
Then he gets lucky that Angeli is leaving ND because he doesn't win the job and suddenly he is the QB savant again? Like come on...
Of course they blame the rest of the team as well, it's the defense's fault that the offense scores 11 PPG and the QB throws 3 INTs.
The worst in my mind is their asinine claim that Luke isn't ready while rewriting the history around young guys like Devito and Dungey coming in and having success. They also have the audacity to throw Mahoney in with "backups who failed" despite his stats DWARFING whatever the hell Collins is putting out there.
Why does Syracuse have Fairweather fans? Probably because people are tired of constantly being told not to believe what their eyes are plainly seeing.

Because he is a kid and Fran is protecting him as he should be doing.I call BS.
1. There is a difference between not being ready and being arguably the worst SU QB in the last 10 years.
2. He is a JR not a true Frosh, so we should have expected some kind of development while he was at LSU.
3. Fran made a point to formally name him QB1 after the Spring. At the time many here felt that was weird, and we had no clue he was this bad. Looking back it makes even less sense, and was deceitful to the fans.
4. Rickie was hurt, but expected to be ready by August. So it made sense to bring in a guy who could compete for QB1, even if Rickie were good.
5. We were told that the QB competition was as close as can be. That is fan deceit number two by Fran. Some were even reporting that Rickie was going to win out.
So taken all of the above, yes we should be surprised that he is this bad. Why is there so much cover for Collins? Why are there people trying to put lipstick on this?
Because he is a kid and Fran is protecting him as he should be doing.
Im not saying just the journalists, im talking in general. The coaches and the admin are just as guilty. We aren't all football coaches, but I dont think it takes Bear Bryant to see that Rickie doesn't have the skill or football IQ to lead a football team.I think it's because the games usually stink
Goofy journalists don't matter
Hes not a kid though, he is 20, people are off fighting wars at his age. Its a hyperbolic statement but i think its important to remind people that whole "they're only kids" arguments goes out the door when they make more money than nuclear engineers.Because he is a kid and Fran is protecting him as he should be doing.
Slim just left townYeah slim and none.
I have no doubt when staff saw what they had in the spring they made a phone call to NJ and said here is our money offer and the starting spot is his.
