Rickie Collins

umm...wut?

My point that you clearly missed is
Reality =
1. We aren't the only ones spending money. Probably spending less than many others.
therefore
2. It doesn't provide us an advantage in any way.
therefore
3. No advantage = no expectations of extra wins.

I know. For whatever reason, I just felt compelled to go on a rant about just how crazy and unreal this whole thing has transformed into. 🤪

.com working that gaslighting HARD.

Of course Angeli was brought in because Collins was bad, how could you not know that!? Didnt you see Pena Leave (who their own staff writers claimed was only a money motivated move on the radio)

Then they claim that Fran has proven he can judge QB talent because he brought in McCord, a former 5 star off of an 11-1 season who was pushed out, not because he was BAD but because he wasn't all world? like what?

Then he told McCord to leave because he thought he found his future player in Rickie Collins? The player we were all supposed to know wasnt good enough??

Then he gets lucky that Angeli is leaving ND because he doesn't win the job and suddenly he is the QB savant again? Like come on...

Of course they blame the rest of the team as well, it's the defense's fault that the offense scores 11 PPG and the QB throws 3 INTs.

The worst in my mind is their asinine claim that Luke isn't ready while rewriting the history around young guys like Devito and Dungey coming in and having success. They also have the audacity to throw Mahoney in with "backups who failed" despite his stats DWARFING whatever the hell Collins is putting out there.

Why does Syracuse have Fairweather fans? Probably because people are tired of constantly being told not to believe what their eyes are plainly seeing.

I think it's because the games usually stink

Goofy journalists don't matter

I call BS.

1. There is a difference between not being ready and being arguably the worst SU QB in the last 10 years.

2. He is a JR not a true Frosh, so we should have expected some kind of development while he was at LSU.

3. Fran made a point to formally name him QB1 after the Spring. At the time many here felt that was weird, and we had no clue he was this bad. Looking back it makes even less sense, and was deceitful to the fans.

4. Rickie was hurt, but expected to be ready by August. So it made sense to bring in a guy who could compete for QB1, even if Rickie were good.

5. We were told that the QB competition was as close as can be. That is fan deceit number two by Fran. Some were even reporting that Rickie was going to win out.

So taken all of the above, yes we should be surprised that he is this bad. Why is there so much cover for Collins? Why are there people trying to put lipstick on this?

Because he is a kid and Fran is protecting him as he should be doing.

No. He could have said in the Spring that Rickie won the job but we are all about DART. Every position is open again in Summer camp, that includes QB. Then in the Summer he could have said, I am not making any starting decisions until camp is over and that includes the QB. Instead he fed everyone bull spit.

Im not saying just the journalists, im talking in general. The coaches and the admin are just as guilty. We aren't all football coaches, but I dont think it takes Bear Bryant to see that Rickie doesn't have the skill or football IQ to lead a football team.

I have no doubt when staff saw what they had in the spring they made a phone call to NJ and said here is our money offer and the starting spot is his.

Yep, and pray he doesn't get hurt... lost that bet obviously, but we know QB injuries well here.

How is that protecting him exactly? Seems like it sets him up for failure. Of course, it seems like the coaches are setting him up for failure week in and week out anyway by trying to get him to make plays that McCord/Angeli can make. So very nice...

Fran as the head coach has to protect his players in a press conference, part of the job.
If he came out and said a player stinks, he would lose the team.
But after the past 3 games if Rickie doesn't dramatically improve, he has to go with another QB or he will lose the team.

I agree he has to protect him but he could have said what he did in the post game press conference versus what he said on Monday.
When asked if Ricky was the qb after the game he said we have see who does better in practice this week. On Monday he doubled down with Ricky that the team has the best chance with Ricky.
Better to say their both are learning and we will play who ever gives us the chance to win after a week of practice.

Of course, Lindsay had also been in college since the Sixties before he finally broke out.

Those 37 years of college ball really paid off for him.

Plus - once he graduated he was immediately eligible for Social Security and Medicare.

I know none of this maths. Just go with it.
This joke never gets old. Very much like Lindsay Scott. As a matter of fact, I heard that upon graduating after 37 years of college, he joined the military and immediately became a 4 star general.

since when ?

Rickie seems to me like someone who has never received proper coaching at any point in his career. Most notably related to proper footwork. Way too many throws off the back foot and not nearly enough stepping up strong in the pocket.

Agreed. He probably was stellar at every level on the way to P4 conference level, naturally more talented than most others. At the P4 level the competition is as good or better than him across the board. The lack of proper coaching along the way shows.
