Ugh, absolutely devastating. What he did for this program, the Big East and the Nation with regards to college basketball was unbelievable. He was part of my childhood and the nostalgia I feel every time I watch a game today.

I use to have a shirt that said "Diamonds are forever, but nothing is as smooth as the Pearl. Dwayne The Pearl Washington"

He was also a truly wonderful person, as I am sure many other on this board with a lot more intimate knowledge of the man will attest to. Taken way before his time.

He is finally free of suffering; however, it is a shame to lose someone prematurely who means so much to so many. A truly amazing individual with transcendent basketball skills that will be missed. I hope that the team makes the Pearl shirts a permanent fixture.
