Very sad. Battled throat cancer and other illnesses. Now, I feel that I have a lot of movies to rewatch. He was so great on the big screen.

His scenes in Maverick were so poignant. It was fantastic that he was included. Reports are that Cruise insisted on his inclusion. You could feel the bond that he and Cruise shared.

I will always watch Real Genius when it's on. He seemed like the coolest guy on the planet for a while. He was good in Tombstone, too.

He was amazing as Jim Morrison in The Doors. He did all of the vocals as well.

He might be the best pure character actor of the guys that came on in the early 80’s.
