Rocky Long

So what’s the over/under on when Rocky Long comes out of retirement? Either with us or elsewhere?

Not sure this helps or hurts us, if Long comes out of retirement.

well he could come here and coach but at this point he says he is retired, so look you can get a good look at a T bone by looking up a bulls ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butchers word for it?
"As of this moment I'm retired. but that doesn't mean I'm not going to listen to anything they have to say," Long added. "I'm tired of being the head coach but I love coaching. The most fun I ever had coaching is when I was coaching the secondary and coaching the defense for Brady Hoke, because Brady was the head coach and all he made me do was coach and recruit. Well, if someone gives me that opportunity again, I'm probably going to take it."
He'll be coaching somewhere next year. The question is where.

Remember that time it was reported that longtime Babers' assistant and DB coach Kim McCloud was unlikely to return to Syracuse?

Sooo... him coming here is back on?

That host was talking us up like we have better facilities than Bama...geesh how bad are the San Diego State facilities?

Not exactly answering your question and I'm not 100% sure this is accurate data but just for reference

In 2017-18
San Diego St generated $55.6 million in revenue for all sports
Syracuse generated $93.8 million in revenue for all sports

That’s a good sign (the new podcast). Scott Kaplan likes being right (and letting you know about it). But he’s well, well connected in that town.

One other factor not to dismiss in this dance: the reputation, appreciation and willingness of AD John Wildhack. Football coaches know him and respect him. I guarantee that RL’s visit to SU included some quality time with our AD. And that is one thing that Washington State or USC cannot match.

FWIW, at the end of that podcast Kaplan predicted that Rocky will announce within 2 weeks that he will be the DC at Syracuse...

They are building the new stadium because the old Chargers stadium is a dump and further off campus. Other facilities are decent. They are a Cal State school, which means less cash on hand than the UC schools.

There's another scenario of the visit this week... Long didn't come to SU to interview with Babers but rather interview the coaches on staff...do you stay or do you go.

Hmm. Do you mean stay or go as in if Long were to come here?

Anyone know if as a DC he prefers to be on the sideline or in the box? If it is in the box, please no one tell him about ours. At 70 that might be a turn off.

Need to get those escalators in as part of the renovation. Hopefully the current Dome name holder bought into this before they split from United Technologies. It'd be part of the path to retaining their name on the stadium for a bit. ;)

Are the players back on campus yet? I know students aren’t back until this weekend but heard in another thread trill was there on Tuesday. Seems like you would want one of your better defenders around to talk to a potential new coach
