As a matter of fact I haven't heard of SDSU Football in years.....since Marshall Faulk was terrorizing the conference

I think if you had asked this board who the coach of SDSU was 2 months ago you would have gotten maybe 5% would know the answer

If you asked the board who knew the name you would have gotten maybe 40%

if you asked me off the top of my head who is head coach of any school on the P5 I would probably come up with maybe 10-20%. if you gave me a list of coaches i could probably match up 50-75% maybe.

Even in the ACC I can hardly remember the coaches names once you get past Dabo

its basically what I'm doing. What I'm not doing is piling on to the AD or hammering home the "cheap Syracuse" narrative if it doesn't happen.

Exactly. It’s not necessary to know every coach in the game but you can reach an informed opinion by doing some research and there’s nothing wrong with that.

I haven’t known a lot about half the coaches brought up that were thought to be potentially serious candidates but I read quite a bit about them and looked at their previous history as coaches and maybe have a more informed opinion than someone that “knew” who they were already.

I really started to know of him soon after they fired Ward and i was researching good G5 Defenses when scouting potential DC's. SDSU has been a consistently excellent Defense, but wasn't thinking that much about their DC b/c it was known that Long was their defacto DC.

Based on what TexanMark had said about the DC having been hired and what CuseLegacy said this morning about the theory of our coaches being interviewed, is it possible Rocky was the DC hire (even if not contractually because he hadn't resigned from SDSU yet) and he was in Syracuse to interview the other defensive coaches to give his input to Dino. With the coaches convention starting this weekend, the timing of Rocky's interviews of our coaches would fit with the timing of talking to other coaches at the convention IF he had identified coaches that needed to be replaced and Dino concurred.

Or if Rocky already has been identified as the DC, he may have just been seeing the other coaches here as a meet and greet.

There's another scenario of the visit this week... Long didn't come to SU to interview with Babers but rather interview the coaches on staff...do you stay or do you go.

Do coaches usually go to the current school of the candidate to interview them? Isn't it usually the other way around?

I find it impossible to believe Dino Babers would bring some guy from the outside to be determine who to keep on his staff - unless said person was going to be the DC.

oh I know you were just tossing out a theory. I was just tying marks rumor with your theory and the fact the coaches convention starts Sunday. Just trying to connect the dots into a positive scenario.

For the record, I'm still leaning toward Scott Kaplan's prediction (from the podcast above). Kaplan seems really plugged in to SDSU football (I think Rocky is his source).
