Rutgers gonna Rutgers...

Newark star ledger reporting that new AD Julie Hermann was accused of verbally abusing her players as Tennessee volleyball coach back in 90s. Also accused of telling an assistant coach that she would likely loss her job if she got preggers.

For those trying to keep score, that means Rutgers discovered one of their coaches was abusing its players- tried to cover it up until another assistant coach blew them in. They fired their AD, who claims he was the fall guy. They then replace him with a person who six of her former players say abused them and forced her to resign. There's also a video the new AD said doesn't exist, that clearly shows the new AD inferring that a preggers assistant coach would be an unwanted situation.

Amid all of that it announced that its new basketball coach was a graduate of Rutgers, when he actually wasn't.

This is an amazing display of utter incompetence.

The thread title alone was just perfect. Well played, sir.

This part is delicious, emphasis mine...

The ruse apparently worked on Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany, who recently added Rutgers to his collection of television properties. To the Big Ten, the Scarlet Knights are just a vehicle to get into the New York/New Jersey television market. The idea is fans in the New York area will clamor for the Big Ten Network in their cable package so they can watch their favorite team, once Delany informs them their favorite team is Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are getting paid to bring in business. Rutgers is more of a Big Ten middleman than a member.

The Scarlet Knights were selected to join the Big Ten in 2014. Nobody, aside from Rutgers hitting the realignment lottery, was excited about that news. The Scarlet Knights don't add anything to the Big Ten. Their inclusion makes no sense, aside from a little bit more TV money for the schools that no fan is ever going to see. Ask a Big Ten alum if he or she is excited about the news that Rutgers is coming. We bet we know the answer.

It was a transparent cash grab by the Big Ten to add Rutgers, the kind of move that is so audacious it should force everyone to realize that fans no longer matter in college athletics. Even without anything that has happened over the past few months with Rice or Hermann, Rutgers to the Big Ten was still a poor move that made the conference look greedy and awful. Now the Rutgers addition looks even worse, if that was even possible..

I love that the article includes a picture of the one memorable moment in over 110 years in Rutgers football.

Dan Levy is the inventor of the Scarlet Letter! That is What he is!

So the Scarlet Letter is once again, a symbol of shame. Nothing new under the sun. As the OP states, "Rutgers gonna Rutgers".
