Class of 2019 S Cornelius Nunn Jr (FL) SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE 12/19/18

I’ll never understand this.

He had a Miami offer prior, but didn’t chose them then. Why not pick The U then instead, if that’s where he really wanted to go?

He bought into us when we were coming off 3 straight 4-8 season, but now that we’re showing improvement and gaining some national relevance, it’s time to bounce?

He’d have a great shot at early PT here too.

C’est la vie.
They didn't prioritize him early/his offer may not have been committable. The selector schools can offer a bunch of people and once they strike out on top targets they move onto the next ones.

Plus, he's a Florida kid. The writing was on the wall.

Single results have nothing to do with most decommitments, especially in this case. As I said, once Miami started making a heavy push for him it was inevitable. Glad he did it now instead of signing day though.

Ya, I know. Most have been expecting this since he committed. Syracuse football has officially come down to earth. I was hoping the ride would last a bit longer but oh well. Progress isn't always linear.

Doesn’t hurt as bad when we have youth talent like cisco/trill/iffy/coley.

Jonas is supposed to be very good too for what its worth.

Hope we grab Greenwood

It must have been that exciting 1 pt Miami win over the FSU team we trounced

FSU/Miami games are always tight. Even with Miami pushing hard, it couldn't have helped that SU is trending downward at the moment.

Props to Bnoro who called this about 2 months ago and took a lot of grief over it. Suck to lose this kid but as noted by a couple of others this unfortunately seemed inevitable.
Certainly didn't help that a recruiting writer kept telling people that Miami wasn't a genuine threat...

Would have loved to hang onto him but luckily we did a great job with Aman and I wouldn't be surprised if he committed soon.

It sucks to lose talent. This didn’t happen because of our performance.
It happened because the kid changed his mind.
17-18 year old kids deserve to have the ability to change their minds without scorn. He did it early no bitterness. Good luck and the coaches will find another kid.

I think it’s better for a kid to remain undecided than to commit to a school. This way he shows greater decision making and you know when he finally commits around signing day theres a greater chance that the commitment is good.

Say we gained bowl eligibility be early november and ended with 7 or 8 wins..

Does Dino have any last word with Nunn here? Or is a Florida kids gonna Florida sorta thing?

It doesnt help us that Miami and the Gators have such a great history with db’s.

I know they arent in play here but dont forget FSU's sucess with DB's. Obviously Sanders, but they probably have produced the best young corner and safety in the NFL in Jalen Ramsey and Derwin James.

Absolutely

Coaches want kids to commit and not wait until close to signing day so they have an idea where they are at in a class...even if some kids end up decommitting.

7 or 8 wins isn’t nothing to an elite recruit . That’s basically a poor season in their eyes.

In an alternate universe I would love to see if he decommitted if 2 plays went our way and we were currently 6-0? For some reason I think it’s may have been different or at least given us a better chance to hold on. Just shows winning is the ultimate selling point.

Now back to reality. Luckily the staff was prepared for this. I would expect them to make a strong push for Greenwood now. He isn’t the elite caliber athlete that Nunn is, but the next best option.

Id think the expectation to win thing would make sense if Florida and Auburn were favorites here. Miami’s not exactly looking top 20 so far. But yeah im glad we have a foundation of talent at the position and a solid plan b potentially committing
