Saint Dougie...

The venom toward Marrone on this board is so odd to me. The guy was great here, threw out some BS about dream job and has moved on after rescuing our program. He is now enjoying success in a job with a team that was the NFL's version of SU when he was here. He left for greener pastures. NFL jobs are better than college jobs. I'm lost why this keeps popping up.
It's the same guys who stalk and bad mouth their former girlfriends. They were, in their minds, "wronged", and can't move on/ let go.

They all know what kind of elite coach he is and wish he were still here and deep down know they didn't do much to keep him. It's like when someone gets ditched by a significant other that they've been crappy to and they're always trashing them, but you know that they know that they screwed it up and want that person back badly, but the ship has sailed and it will never happen.

COACH OF THE WEEK

Doug Marrone, head coach, Jacksonville. His decision to deactivate the best player on his team with the division lead on the line was a bold one. Marrone sat running back Leonard Fournette knowing—presumably—that he had a slew of players in his locker room wondering: Are you going to let this guy get away with three or four violations that none of the rest of us are guilty of? Marrone banished Fournette … and the team responded: 40 Fournette-less carries, 149 yards, a 40:14 time of possession in a 23-7 win over Cincinnati.

he is hitting the jackpot this year. Cincy is nothing without AJ Green

buffalo has been pretty lucky this year too.

marrone has good defenses, i'll always give him that, and it's not like it's just luck.

i don't know if mcdermott is better but i'm sure glad we got babers

I wish the Giants would hire him. They're unwatchable.

The Jets had the chance to hire Doug when he overplayed his hand and opted out of Buffalo. I wonder if they would be further ahead under Doug than they are with Todd Bowles. It's a similar situation- good defense and bad quarterback. AFC East is way better than the AFC South though so other than Doug getting closer to home, he's better off in J'ville for now.

Two to three years from now when Deshaun Watson is the most unstoppable qb in the league, Tom Brady is geriatric, and the Bills are back to being the Bills, that Jets job could be awfully enticing.

Marrone would go nuts dealing with the NY media.

Jacksonville is perfect for him.

I don't see venom. The posters busting on Marrone are for the most part fooling around. The Marroniacs on the other hand take this stuff way too serious and defend him like he's their daddy.

The Bills are 106-150 going back to 2000. They've averaged averaged 6.6 wins per season over the last 16 years. It's the result of the Brady/Belichick effect, mediocre coaching, and poor qb drafts.

why would the bills record 16 years ago have any relevance to the attractiveness of the jets job

the jets defensive line is very good and mccown is good enough to get you to 7 wins but i don't know why they'd be any more attractive than any other also ran.

I'm aware of their history. But in the present, they basically unloaded their roster and are currently 5-3 in spite of it. If they aren't bad now, I don't see it being a foregone conclusion that they will be bad going forward. McDermott and Beane look good so far and they have an owner willing to pay for a winner.

As a Cincy fan yes AJ Green is key to the offense but unless we get better O-line play we could have 5 AJ Greens and it wouldn't do us any good when our non mobile QB is running for his life every play and has under a second to throw.

I wanted to fire Marvin Lewis 4 years ago and would have gladly taken Saint Dougie to steer the ship, Im glad "Syracuse of the South" the Jaguars are playing so well

Marrone opted out of his Bills contract because he thought he had a shot at the Jets job. Now was his issue with Bills management and he would rather be on his couch than work for the Bills franchise or did he genuinely want to be the Jets coach?

It's a hypothetical that if I were Coach Marrone with options of AFC South vs AFC East, I'd prefer to be in the AFC South now but in a few years the AFC East may be the better path to the playoffs.

The Bills may be having a playoff caliber year right now but until they draft a top tier qb I don't see them sustaining any success.

They need to show me they can draft or acquire a young top tier qb if they want to sustain success. The Patriots won't be the Patriots much longer and the first 8 game results are good but as a life long Bills fan, don't be surprised that I'm skeptical.

I don't understand the 5 or 6 over the top Marrone supporters on here. I will be sending them all knee pads and life size Dougie posters for Christmas. I like how this thread gets bumped when he wins on Sunday.

Sounds like you're the one with the problem.

Halfway point of the season, and the Bills and Jags would be the two wild card teams in the AFC.

This thread shall live on...

A 4 Jaguars vs. 5 Bills matchup on Saturday, January 6 would be fun.

Taylor is fine. He has pretty good numbers considering he has an XFL wr corp

It'll be something if the bills, mularkey, and marrone all made the playoffs

The out clause in his contract with the Bills had nothing to do with the Jets. '

It had to do with Doug's concern about working for an owner other than the one who hired him - Ralph Wilson.

He is fine, but not a top tier QB. Good enough to not lose games for them, but not good enough to be capable of winning games for them. A stop-gap until they find their own Deshaun Watson or Dak Prescott.

Do you have any idea what it was about?

word in the post game was Bortles wanted to run a final play to score and stick it to the Bengals and Doug wanted to take a knee for the final play.
