I have 2 granddaughters in college and college breaks now are ridiculously long. It’s good for those kids that can secure a job. Back in the Middle Ages when I was in college we had from around Dec 23rd till Jan 5th off now they have from Dec 16 th through Jan 12th at SU. It’s like 3+ weeks long now.

I’m assuming Winter sessions must not have been a thing back then. I had some roommates at Oswego who took advantage of the Winter sessions to get ahead on credits.

I went to RIT when they were on trimesters. First trimester ended at Thanksgiving, which meant Xmas was about 3 weeks into the 2nd trimester. Xmas break was about 8 or 9 days, came back right after New Years.

2nd trimester also ended late February which meant Spring Break was the worst -- Key West on let's say Feb 26 - March 2nd was just not the quintessential experience.

Same. Only instead of get ahead It was catch up. They failed most of their classes from being at the bars so much.

Yeah, when I was at Oswego 30 years ago we had nearly a month off. I remember it seemed longer than most other schools. Spring break also seemed to always be scheduled about a week later too.

Fortunately there are four CFP games and a handful of virtual NFL playoff games to bridge the gap.
